Carville said Novak was trying to look tough for the editorial pages. Novak said that was xxxxxxxx and walked out of the set and you can hearing him throwing his mike. Carville looked like a dear in headlights.

I think he was TRYING to point out to Carville that even though Coburn wasn't the party favorite, he was the citizens of Oklahoma's favorite, obviously, since he won....

A matter of projection, apparently. Good for Novak. He was grossly insulted and he calmly declined to sit there and take it. People watching a political show are not going to be offended at the word bullshit to describe bullshit. He didn't cause a scene.
As to the host remarks at the end, I'll guess they had promoted the show and promised viewers Novak would address the subject of the CIA investigation because the host merely phrased it as an apology that they were not able to do that segment. I think those ranting about the host's remarks are wrong, too.
Hey, Robert Novak served this country as a Lieutenant during the Korean War. You need to retract that comment.
Her husband outed her long before Novak. Get your facts straight.
There may be a little more. After Novak said it was BS, he looked by up to the "moderator", and said "just let it go". Then he sat there for a few seconds.
The moderator then asked Carville another question. THEN Novak got up and left.
I think Novak was giving the moderator a chance to "make it right" -- Carville made an unnecessary personal attack on Novak. At least he was waiting for the moderator to say "No, finish what you were saying".
When the moderator decided to go back to Carville, thus rewarding Carville for his interruption and personal attack, Novak got up and left.
It wasn't a tantrum.
