JERUSALEM (AP) -- A passenger on an Israeli bus opened fire on Thursday, killing three people, an Israeli police spokesman told Channel 2 TV, in an apparent argument among passengers. Five other people were wounded. The TV report said the gunman, in an Israeli army uniform, was captured by police. The gunfire erupted as the bus was on a road in Israel's north near the town of Shfaram. The spokesman told Channel 2 that the gunman was a soldier, three people were killed and several others wounded, and the gunman was captured. Channel 2 said the incident was not a terror attack.

You're wrong, the barrel gets a bad name by being slandered by those who judge a group or community by the actions of an individual. That's taught in bigotry 101.
Did you mean to put a sarcasm anywhere?
It is just a few radicals, but the shooter is dead from what i heard.
Because he is hoping that this will actually (and finally) lead to a lasting peace in the region. It won't, but Bush can hope anyways that there will be one less major problem that he will need to deal with.
Good point.
Actually, the man convicted of killing Prime Minster Rabin was raised in a Tel Aviv suburb -- I don't remember the one; perhaps it is the same one that today's shooter came from. I agree with you that he was not a lone psychotic gunman, but from what I've read he was a tool of Israel's intelligence agency, which placed an agent in the West Bank to provoke Jews to take extremist positions.
Shooting the Prime Minister was a terrible crime, but it was not based on his learning in Israel's "far-right" religious institutions. Rather, it was based on the teachings of the provacateur, who invented secret initiation ceremonies, passed out leaflets describing the Prime Minister as a Nazi, and took other inflammatory actions that made this psycho believe that he was part of a larger movement.
What is more, after the shooting of Prime Minister Rabin, Netanyahu's lead in the election nearly evaporated, and he managed to just squeak by Shimon Peres to become Prime Minister. Very often, political assassinations have the opposite effect of what is intended because they mobilize the opposition.
Not really. To be consistant, those who characterize "right wing settlers" as lunatics based on a single incident have to accept the lunacy of the pro-life movement based on the murder of an abortion doctor, Christians based on Oklahoma City, and gun owners based on gun crime. These are widely held opinions, admittadly generally held on the left, but my guess we have a few of those here as well.
One crazy man doesn't mean anything, unless of course you think Tim McVeigh represents all Americans or Christians...
You wrote:
"We all know right wingers, known as settlers in Israel, are lunatics, dangerous when they get near firearms."
YOU believe this?
"We need to get the guns and start throwing the lunatic right wingers in jail."
YOU believe this?
I am glad that you at least agree that the assassination of Prime Minister Rabin was not a good thing. Now, what about the praise for the ultra-Orthodox religious zealot, Yigal Amir, from many in Israel in the United States?
I would hardly say that his actions were supported by 'many'. Correct me if I am wrong.
I don't know, what about it? The assassination of Rabin was a terrible thing.
Amir was not an "ultra-Orthodox" but hey, don't let facts stand in your way of smearing an entire population because of 3 whackos over a period of 10 years.
How come this story is so brief? It doesn't mention who were those killed. It doesn't mention who the soldier was or why he did it.
Of course not. I'm just drawing the logical conclusions that those who do must come to.
Should I bring up Baruch Goldstein? Thanks to this soldier, the trolls have three incidents to demonize Jews in Gaza and the West Bank with.
Hate to interfere with your screed at the "settlers" but the latest news describes him as a secular Jew from Israel who because of the disengagement deserted the IDF, "turned" Religious and was loitering in the "West Bank". Some one who obviously had psychological problems and not a product of the lazy "Right Wing" as you described (a particularly strange posting for "right wing" FreeRepublic).
But if this guy can be considered a terrorist, you do know what that means: we have to look at the root causes of his grievance and humiliation.
Get enough insane people like him and give them a State.
Hillary says he does. At least right wing Christians. She'll be getting some votes here.

Mob kills shooter, who went AWOL due to pullout
A Jewish Israeli man in Israel Defense Forces uniform opened fire on bus passengers in a Druze neighborhood of the Israeli Arab town of Shfaram Thursday afternoon. Four people were killed and 12 wounded, two of them moderately. The gunman was killed by a mob that boarded the bus after the shooting.
Security forces said the shooting was apparently a Jewish terror attack and that the attacker was a newly religious man, an IDF deserter from Rishon Letzion who recently moved to the West Bank settlement of Tapuah. They said the gunman, Eran Tzuberi, 19, was an activist in the outlawed extreme-right Kach movement. Tzuberi went AWOL a month ago to protest the disengagement plan.
