"No discussion, no comment, just raspberries."

I've noticed the same, and not just today. It's very distressing. This is a conservative forum. For those who don't know a forum is:

a public meeting or assembly for open discussion

Open discussion. It seems free republic is morphing into a far right mutual admiration society. Those who dissent or disagree are told to go to the DU, (among other things).

Is it any wonder that observers/lurkers are commenting about the FR eating their own?

Lighten up a bit.

One of the reasons for levity in this posting is due to the fact that the article had no substance to it. They describe seeing environmental damage and a thin atmosphere, but there is no context for comparison. Is there a scientific comparison to provide supporting data? or is this just some eyewash BS for the Japanese photo/communications opportunity.

Some comments deserve raspberries. As someone who is occasionally subject to the flames, my rule on FR is: If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

What everyone here seems to be missing is that this "article" is from Roto-Reuters and may not be - and probably isn't- even close to what Cmndr Collins expressed. While I don't doubt that the quotes given are probably her exact words, I'm sure that the context, audience and other words would not paint her in such a picture as Roto-Sewer has tried - apparently successfuly - to do to further their own biased agenda.

I can't believe the number of Freepers who still, after all we have seen of the totally biased media, believe what they read is actually reflective of reality and what was said, done, seen, heard, etc.

I have also noticed over and over that the liberal-spew talking heads like to constantly quote another "reporter" or article and want someone to explain the quote, as if the article was actually the truth. We have seen that most of the time, no MSM article/quote can be trusted. (see Rather, Dan, et.al.)

So before everyone tests their knee jerk reflexes and tries to spew some idiotic neo-con talking points, it would be best to take a deep breath and consider the source, which in this case is totally untrustworthy, based on past history.

I think you two are right. The intelligence level of this place has drastically been lowered with the influx of what I can only describe as "new neo-cons"- who are just as bad as the liberals regarding discussions, comments and open forums. That is, ignorant, bigoted, hypocritical.

Thanks for your sane and tempered comments. To all the rest, please look at the source of the articles before you instantly leap to conclusions and start condemning.

This used to be a good forum with enlightening discussions and brilliant comments. Now, it's turning more and more into a radical, right wing DU- and you know how bad that can be.

Just my $2x10-2

Is is Friday, and we are just having some fun with this lady's comments.

Afterall, there is an element of truth to her statements, but they are not well thought out.

Her statements are to general and could be actually untrue.

Very similar to looking at the dark side of the earth (from her view up there) and commenting on the overwhelming darkness that has "over taken" half of the earth, IN A MATTER OF MINUTES !

It appeals to the "WAR OF THE WORLDS" mentality. And causes panic. Which in turn makes for bad decisions for our future.

Calmer heads prevail, and a little common sense helps.

Unfortunately, "common sense" isn't "common" anymore.
