The streets always flood when it rains here. Your talking about a desert where rain makes the evening news, and we actually have 'rain chasers'. Having said that. We are experiencing strong winds with this storm. Wind gusts up to 60 mph and more than an inch of rain have fallen on parts of the Valley so far tonight. OK, so an inch isn't much for some of you out there. But just think of that poor sun baked toad waiting for a sip of water in the SW desert.

That was a hell of a storm front. It's passed us here in Mesa, but still wailing on the West Valley.

Radar Here

Right now I am in Southern Phoenix in an area called Ahwatukee. It is close to Maricopa. The storm is calming down here now. It headed north towards downtown and Scottsdale.

Arizona is currently in the monsoon season where moisture builds up from Mexico and storms hit in the evening. It usually lasts from mid-July to late August. Tonight's storms were bad, but somewhat expected this time of year. I'm just glad I don't have to water my lawn for a couple of days!

Yeah, those clouds were lovely. I'm glad they finally brought some rain to my neighborhood instead of just dust and wind.
