Has anyone seen any polls?
06-12-05
A loss here might be the fault of the state party, but the media and the usual talking heads will play it up as a major defeat for Mr Bush and the national GOP. Although if Republicans in this district could not get their act together to elect a GOP representative then maybe we are in trouble in 2006.
I think maybe Rob Portman should have stayed where he was.
I'm sorry atlanta67, but I must say it. Grow a damn spine.
This has just started for God's sakes. JEEZ!
Keep in mind that Hackett essentially ran as a Republican. I will be disappointed if Schmidt loses, but win or lose this one, I'm not worried about '06. The Dems can fool some of the people some of the time....

I found the post while watching for election results, but I am thrilled that Marta's gone if only because I got so sick of hearing about the "lovely and gracious" Marta...blah, blah, blah, ...and her opinions of what was happening in world, her phone calls during the broadcast, her management of his weight, her love of football, step-parenting her kids, and what she said to some guy they met on some vacation. Think of all the time we've had to discuss real issues now that she's not part of the show!
so, you think I signed up 2 months ago so I could post for this race
Like I said:
"Hold the line!!! HOLD! THE! LINE!"
We've won our share and we'll lose our share. If this guy is a phony as he seems, he should be an easy target next time around.
And this race worries me.
Cincinnati looks ok. Seems like about 10-15% turnout. That will be good for Schmidt. No levies in cincinnati.
""We've won our share and we'll lose our share. If this guy is a phony as he seems, he should be an easy target next time around.""
Losing a district where the incumbent GOP congressman won 70% isnt our share
from du, they think that Hackett ran as a liberal. They are not learning any lessons.

No matter what, this is a victory....a BIG victory.
Now if we actually get the seat, than that says a few things to me.
1. Fighters and liberals can win even in red disctricts as long as they act like themselves. The Repub media machine is no longer believed.
2. Ohioans are sick and tired of Republican corruption....'bout time.
3. They can't rig any and all elections...small elections can be watched much easier. OR Congressional seats aren't important enough to rig.
4. We have a media machine that is beginning to work (blogs, AAR).
5. War heroes the likes of Wes Clark may have tremendous appeal throughout the South and the Republicans have lost the flag they wrap themselves in.
I did not know that about Schmidt. She was an incumbent state rep. and lost a primary?? Sounds like she might be "damaged goods" to begin with. Maybe they could have run someone stronger. Sounds like she is otherwise very conservative. She was endorsed by the NRA and right to life groups. Hard to believe she would vote for tax increases too. But that kind of record could make GOP voters less apt to turn out, sad to say.
We are use to following these races and you don't throw in the towel before the counting is done.
Oh by the way we found a troll yesterday that has been with us since October of 05.
hate to say this but a few of his points are right
If he wins, it isn't bad for the Republicans, because he didn't run as the leftist he is. He lied. BIG time.
Get a grip.
and you think DEMS cant do that again..how about Hillary in 2008?
Oh, and which ones might they be?
