I disagree, I cannot recall, until the out-of-state Democrat whining last November, any large scale vote fraud allegations in this state.

No, but Schmidt should win in a walk. It is interesting to note, I got a lot of mail from both candidates. But I don't live in the district, I live next door in John Boehner's district.

Ditto here, except I'm in Strickland's district )-:

I'm pretty sure Schmidt will win, and the media will hardly notice, BUT...

if Hackett wins the media will treat it like it's the Second Coming. We'll hear about it for months. He will be the new Barack Obama. Keep your fingers crossed.

The question asked was about potential.

The potential for "irregularities" is indeed high.

Were you in Franklin Co. back in November?

You may certainly disagree, but if there is ANY opportunity for tampering or fraud, it will happen.

IMHO

In the low turnout primary, Jean Schmidt, in a ten(?) candidate field, polled better than all the Democrats in their primary, combined.

Actually all the counties in the 2nd District are Appalachian counties except Hamilton and Warren.

What's the potential for voter fraud in that district?

I voted this morning. The voting location had eight poll workers - two precincts and two from each party per precinct. There was no evidence of any voter fraud in the 2004 election in Ohio other than isolated incidents. The idea that voter fraud in Ohio affected the outcome is moonbat-speak. In any case, EVERY county in the District is a Republican County, so 'Rat fraud would be quite a feat!

I heard that it was a pretty close race and that the Dems could take this one. Is there any accuracy to that or is it simply more propaganda from the national media?

It's not even propaganda -- the idea that the 'Rats could take this seat is preposterous. It would have been like GWB losing South Carolina in 2004 -- and you may recall that Pennsylvania was called for Kerry well before SC was called for GWB, thanks to bogus exit polls. This is an overwhelmingly Midwest Republican District -- which means that the lamestream media from the coasts knows nothing about it. Schmidt will win easily.

Franklin County is run by 'Rats. That's NOT the case in these counties. The potential for "irregularities" is not high at all, unless you think that we are as corrupt concerning elections as the 'Rats.

Clermont is borderline, I lived there for three years just South of Loveland, I would not call that part Applalachian.

My wife worked at a Medicaid pediatric clinc near the Eastgate Mall, now her patients were the stereotype of Appalachian...

Schmidt should win, but it would not surprised me if a media-fueled groundswell carried Hackett into office. What a disaster that would be -- MSM would trumpet it endlessly as evidence of President Bush's "weakness."

Franklin County is run by 'Rats,

- If memory serves, The director of the franklin county board of elections is a republican.

That's NOT the case in these counties.

- Point taken, perhaps it is presumptuous to consider the potential for irregularities in all counties based only on Franklin county.

unless you think that we are as corrupt concerning elections as the 'Rats.

We? I'm not an official of the government, are you?

I believe that if it is possible to tamper with votes, voters, machines, or those who count the votes, it will happen.

Regardless of party affiliation.

"The Democrat will probably do much better than Kerry or any other Democrat who has run in the district, and he'll still lose."

Hackett ran his campaign like the second coming of Kerry/Edwards. He was both men rolled into one -- "Did you know I was in Iraq?" like Kerry, and he is a plaintiff's lawyer like Edwards. His last minute campaign ads tried to link Jean Schmidt with the dirty money shenanigans going on in Columbus. She hasn't been our state rep in a couple of years. I hope you are right about him losing. The RAT/Soros/Move-on.org media machine has really been saturating the airwaves with ads for him.

There's a limited market in this district for what the Democrats are selling, no matter how good a salesman they find. That's the problem. Hacket couldn't win here any more easily than Michael Steele could win an inner-city Baltimore district against the worst Democratic candidate you can imagine.

Media-fueled groundswell? What media? The New York Times, the Washington Post, and CNN? You think people in THIS District are influenced by THOSE media outlets? Right, and Freepers consider Al Franken their political guru. Gimme a break!
