That's what came to mind when I read the first sentence, too. The interviewer is acting like this is news, that people didn't already know the whole band are born-again Christians.

I had no idea, and am quite surprised to learn about this, actually....never would have thought, in a million years, that Bono believed in Christ....he's so left-leaning...

Maybe that's because, for Europe, Bono would be considered to be to the Right for holding onto the veiw that Jesus is the Son of God. It is a sad commentary on how far Europe has fallen.
