With Gipper's game plan, Rudy can win it all

As I write this I know my fellow social conservatives will get mad: There is no one in either political party who would be a more exciting candidate for president than Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City. I'll tell you his story -- the good and the bad -- and I'll tell you how he can solve his problems with you. And me. Incidentally, as you read, keep in mind the contrast with Mayor Daley.
The good and bad about Rudy is contained in a book, The Prince of the City [Encounter: 2005] by Fred Siegel, a hard-bitten teacher at Cooper Union University. The good: Rudy came into office in 1994 a Republican in a Big Apple that was rotten to the core, steeped with bosses, bagmen and racial arsonists, a hostile "combination of liberal consensus and helplessness [that] made serious policy debate seem irrelevant," and quickly brought in a band of brother prosecutors from the U.S. attorney's office. They gave up millions in private law firm salaries for the fun of working and drinking (after hours) with Rudy. Most never left his side until his two terms ran out in 2001.
Giuliani was an eerily compulsive hands-on manager. If you want to understand him, said an associate, remember that as a Yankee fan he's the guy who keeps score and writes down how each out and each run took place. Just as when he read The Godfather he diagrammed how the mob worked, for relaxation he would sketch on a pad how every department worked. He would explain to the public clearly what he wanted to do: cut the size of government, cut taxes to attract jobs "so people can work," consolidate or cut out city departments, introduce competition to delivery of services and work with the governor [Democrat Mario Cuomo] "to get our fair share of revenue."
He insisted on tough police standards, once jumping out of his limo in Times Square to chase a guy he saw grab a woman's purse. He was heedless of civil libertarians. It seemed like he wanted to offend all interest groups and took the heat, forgetting the polls. Crime in 1995 saw 163,428 fewer felonies, with murder dropping 16 percent in 1996. He trumpeted that work is the best social welfare policy, pushing welfare reform, announcing that 23 percent of the welfare recipients in Jersey City were also receiving New York City benefits. He balanced his budget, fought with Al Sharpton against what he called "racial racketeering," and grinned as he took heat from minority communities.
The bad? Giuliani was ego-driven. He got jealous of his police commissioner, who was getting more favorable press than he, fired him and hired another (who was just as tough). Giuliani's personal life fell into tatters: his first marriage annulled, his second wife was a TV anchor who drove him nuts. He spatted with her, kept public company with a divorcee, came down with prostate cancer, married again. His political career was pronounced over. Then came 9/11.
That tragedy redeemed him. When the first plane hit the north tower, Guiliani ran from the Pinnacle Hotel where he was at a breakfast, shouting over his cell phone that command headquarters should move from 7 World Trade Center to Barclay Street a block away. Good thinking: Just as they evacuated, the plane hit the south tower. The debris was so heavy his command center was inundated. With his cell phone deadened, Giuliani's staff thought he was dead as well, but a janitor found him dazed and led him out through a little-known passage in the basement.
Television captured the man at that moment, stumbling down the street in the smoke, his handkerchief to his mouth, directing his city through uncharted territory, ordering all bridges and tunnels shut down. Courage is the most important virtue, said Churchill: It guarantees all others. As Bush retires, he should be supplanted by a man of this valor.
Social conservatives will oppose Giuliani for his pro-abortion views. It's up to Giuliani to help himself with them, and here's how. As governor of California, Ronald Reagan signed the most permissive abortion law in the country. Rudy, can you hear me? If you want this thing -- this presidency -- you gotta change and mean it. Your marriages we can do nothing about. But your social views have to change. They'll say you're an opportunist, but you have heard that before. You can change. And mean it. We're waiting.

Al Gore hasnt been seen as a Southerner for twenty years. He also came very close to winning never forget we are winning by almost impossibly thin margins. Hillery will win Ohio or Florida unless we get a candidate that can win New York of Califonia we are lost.

You yourself qualify the phrase "shall not be infringed" when you say the right to bear arms belongs to "a law-abiding citizen."

Hillary wil not win OH or FL, FL is trending Republican, and Ohio was only close due to local matter - economy and the Taft administration in Ohio.
As for NY or CA, the only way we win them is if we have a forty state sweep. Federal elections are simple, states fall in a certain order from red to blue. A GOP win without OH and with NY or CA is a damn near impossiblity.
Last election Bush got 63 million votes, if we want that many votes again we better find someone a lot like him or it is over.
I would caution you to be careful. I believe the pendulim will swing back in the direction of Christianity. Now I, and I'm sure you, would be happy to see this, except for one glaring problem that will raise it's ugly head.
We know we live in an imperfect world. We know that Satan has always tried to confound those who would do good. With this in mind, you must realize who some of the leading people will be, when this swing occurs.
The likes of Bill and Hillary Clinton will read the tea leaves. Some leading representatives of Hollywierd will read them. Many in the MSM will profess a new found "faith". Many public officials will make that some pronouncement.
I'm just trying to point out, that when the swing back to Christianity occurs, those leading the crusade will more than likely be people who have no foundation in it. They will shout down those trying to represent true Christianity.
In that environment, this person may have a very valid point. It won't be Christianity, but none the less Christians will be saddled with the blame.
Not to mention that 9/11 will be a seven year old event in 2008. The voters memories are not that long so the one thing Rudy has going for him will get him nowhere.
If Rudy got the GOP nomination, I would vote for a third party ticket--that much is for sure.
It isn't about abortion. When Giuliani ran against Hillary he had the same position as her on almost every issue. On abortion, he was just to the left of Hillary.
Fl may trend Republican but it daily experiences a huge influx of democrat voting Northerners. This is enough of a problem that the state will turn to Democrats long before the 2008 election. The democrats don't want us to discuss this issue because their planners know they have Fl. Ohio is icing on the ckae and it is so close that I am calling it for Hillery based on on specualtion that the fix is in.
That last isn't absolutly true Ohio will go where it will go. NY will vote for Guliani and not Hillery and its that simple, if we nominate Guliani we win and win big if it is anyone else Hillery has more than a chance. The MSM is reporting right now about how Hillery will lose. What that means is they are being influenced to say it so we nominate the wrong person and insure her win.

We simply don't know if there will be a 9/11 or worse between now and then.....

And as for fixes and the MSM playing 2008 psy-ops with us already, grab your tinfoil.
Its not a contradiction. Fl has trended Republican but it will not be Republican in 2008 it is already a state that is almost too close to call. In 2008 20,000 more democrats will live there and Republicans will not be keeping up.
That's also part of the problem. If there is another one. New people will get the credit for handling it well, it could be in LA it could be in NY it could be in any major population center. Also the current adminisration would probably get blamed for it happening.
It's a classic lose/lose situation: No incident = forgetful voters, New incident = changed dynamic.
The only safe thing to do is discount the politics of terror down to nothing as we quantify unknowables.

So you are saying the migratory patters into Florida will be different from 2005-2008 than they were from 2001-2004? A lot yankees moved to FLA in 2001-2004 and the GOP gained.
Little known fact: about 250 Ohians move to Florida every day, roughly the same amount as New Yorkers.
