HOUSTON -- Houston-area Islamic groups joined a nationwide campaign to denounce terrorism, Local 2 reported Friday.
The public service announcements hit the airwaves Thursday. The campaign is called "Not in the Name of Islam."
CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, released it to build understanding.
"Muslims are not only victims of the terrorists attacks but also have to deal with the stigmatization of being blamed for the heinous crimes of a minuscule minority." Said Rodwan Saleh, with the Islamic Society of Greater Houston.
Houston's Islamic leaders joined together to applaud a religious ruling against terrorism and religious extremism.
"We want to let all of Houston citizens know that we stand behind peace and justice and we are absolutely against any terrorism or any terrorism actions in this city." Saleh said.
Nearly 1 million people around the country have signed a petition supporting American Muslims.
"The terrorists actions are not in the name of Islam and Muslims do not want their religion seized by criminals, said Kaleem Siddiqui, with CAIR Houston. "They commit these acts cowardly and they call themselves Muslims. We absolutely condemn that and oppose it."
Houston was recently rated the No. 1 city in the country by the Vera Institute for police having good relationships with the Arabic and Muslim community.
I lived with them, you walk by in the street and nod hello. There is a big difference!!!
Sure am.
You're taking my comments out of context and freaking out.
Oh, and my "little world" you refer to is called "Baghdad." The one in Iraq.
But I don't know anything about Muslims.
Yeah.
Nope!!! You're wrong!!! (I love mimicking you like this.) Several locals live right here on my compound!!! Work with us and live with us!!!
They even stand guard on our roofs!!!!
See? You shouldn't make assumptions and going flying off all moonbatty. You don't have all the facts.
Like I'm so surprised.... :eyeroll:
Yeah, I know, but sometimes they're amusing and kind of fun to toy with. We have a low entertainment threshold here. It's kind of like shooting fish in a barrel, but I figure it hones my moonbat-baiting senses. Heeeheeee
He has good reason to blast it - If these idiots REALLY cared about denouncing Terror - then they'd start snitching out the terrorists among them...
You definitely need that R & R. Stay safe.
You have to understand what I have come to understand. Many of these people simply hate Islam regardless of terrorism. It plays nicely into their hands if they can paint Islam in the badest light possible. They don't want to believe that a muslim can interpret the Koran in a way that doesn't tell them to kill infidels. It makes their job easier if there is no such thing.
Even though the majority of muslim Iraqis are pro-democracy, pro-coalition, and against terrorism, and even though you have first hand knowledge that they are friendly, you are still not going to win against these people's islam hating mindsets.
Just check out this chronological series of logic for what I am talking about:
-"I demand Muslims denouce terrorism!"
-Muslims denouce terrorism
-"Oh but its meaningless because muslims are allowed to lie to non-believers"
SO WHY DID YOU ASK THEM TO DENOUNCE IN THE FIRST PLACE THEN?
They live in your compound. I slept in the same room with them and listened to them rant about the Jews, how the US deserved 9-11 etc... You still walk by and say hello, how are you. You dont really know them.
Or attribute remarks to me that I never made. Such as: Notice what the article says about your hero Mr. Siddique!!!
But...SlowBoat's right. I shouldn't be toying with y'all like this. It's unfair of me, given the odds here.
SlowBoat, I've just gotta slip this last one in...
You are busy lecturing others about there poor grammar...
Sorry...the devil made me do that. ;-)
Bye, all. It's been fun but I'm off to loftier endeavors now.
You didnt read the article. I suggest you do and see where people like Siddiques loyalties were before this "denouncement"!
Exactly right.
"Terrorism" does not include acts by Muslims.
"Civilians" does not include infidels.
And most damning,
In writing and in interviews they NEVER CONDEMN ANY MUSLIM BY NAME, even when names like Bin Laden are listed for them.
Why are they denouncing terrorist actions in Houston? There haven't been any. What about New York City? What about London? What about Egypt, Iraq, Bali, etc.?
The Iraqis who've been brutalized and tortured for decades are not the same as those in the west. They are probably quite thankful we removed saddam.
Yep. Until then, although this is encouraging, it still looks like al taqiyya...
"their" Does that make you proud?
One more thing: They WILL condemn specific acts, 9/11, Beslan, Madrid, London -
BECAUSE THEY BLAME THEM ON THE JOOOOZ!
I don't care, I know many muslims do not support terrorism full stop.
Why dont they condemn any muslim by name??
Because they are'nt supposed to side against their muslim brothers with the infidels
Spanish Muslims issue fatwa on bin Laden
Dead on! It's SOP for the muzzies to maintain a friendly face and low profile in a target country until they reach a certain critical mass. Usually about twenty percent of the population. They concentrate in one or two areas of the country and then start making demands that only their goof ball laws apply in those areas. Of course no rational government can allow this. Thats when the muzzy's built in "oppressed by the infidels" mode kicks in and the bloodshed and mayhem begins.
