HOUSTON -- Houston-area Islamic groups joined a nationwide campaign to denounce terrorism, Local 2 reported Friday.
The public service announcements hit the airwaves Thursday. The campaign is called "Not in the Name of Islam."
CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, released it to build understanding.
"Muslims are not only victims of the terrorists attacks but also have to deal with the stigmatization of being blamed for the heinous crimes of a minuscule minority." Said Rodwan Saleh, with the Islamic Society of Greater Houston.
Houston's Islamic leaders joined together to applaud a religious ruling against terrorism and religious extremism.
"We want to let all of Houston citizens know that we stand behind peace and justice and we are absolutely against any terrorism or any terrorism actions in this city." Saleh said.
Nearly 1 million people around the country have signed a petition supporting American Muslims.
"The terrorists actions are not in the name of Islam and Muslims do not want their religion seized by criminals, said Kaleem Siddiqui, with CAIR Houston. "They commit these acts cowardly and they call themselves Muslims. We absolutely condemn that and oppose it."
Houston was recently rated the No. 1 city in the country by the Vera Institute for police having good relationships with the Arabic and Muslim community.

Good. Seen hundreds of these condemnations from Muslims. Why is the media ignoring it? Because it's good news?

It's hard to believe that the Muslims in Houston didn't know that there was a terrorist-backing charity in Dallas funneling money to the jihadists. I don't trust them.

What do you have? Hmmmmmmm?
I would imagine that Danny Pearl thought he had street smarts and that Muslims were a peaceful people/religion but he paid the ultimate price for that misguided mistake.
Just because your working for the bucks in Iraq and seem to like Muslim countries doesn't necessarily mean your that much more intelligent about what many Muslims would like to do to infidels.
I also have worked and traveled extensively over seas and from a mans stand point I can tell you the Muslim men who have worked or lived in America like to sit in forbidden hotel bars and brag about their exploits with American women.

Maybe when a person has been attacked personally in the name of Allah, then one might have a jaded view. I've lost friends to terrorists. I've had a couple of very close calls myself. Close enough to get my heart rate up pretty high and to tremble for quite some time afterward.
Don't get me wrong; I hate terrorists. Loathe and detest them.
My point is that you can't say all Muslims are evil just because all of the terrorists are Muslims. The Muslims I know well are just regular people and they hate the terrorists as much as we do.

2004.
I can tell without even looking.
I'd correct your grammar, but I don't have time. I will suggest that when you want to challenge someone's intelligence, you might want to make sure you understand simple rules like the difference between "your" and "you're."
You're making assumptions. Read the "street smarts" comment to which I was responding and you may see why I used that phrase.
Those who make assumptions based on little information aren't really worth any more of my time than this.
Buh-bye. Have a nice day.

I hope so, and that they hate the terrorist more than the infidel.

I think these actions by Muslims condemning killers who use their religion for evil purposes is a good thing.
It should be given more coverage by the media and encouraged.

Same here.
After 9-11 I was living in a foreign country.
Had it not been for some brave Catholic Colombian countrymen coming to my defense, I would not be here to day posting on this site.
I was attacked by 10 club wielding immigrant Syrians yelling kill the infidel and Osama is great.
A garage owner and four of his employees grabbed tire irons and came to my rescue.
The Syrians ran like scared rats when the odds evened up somewhat.
So from a personal stand point I learned the hard way not to trust Muslims on face value.
Many people do not realize the number of Middle Eastern immigrants that are flooding the countries of South America.

Brilliant response.
Downright thought-provoking. Polite and well-mannered, too.
Gosh, I know when I've been bested by a genius.

I'll believe it when they denounce attacks on jews and Israel. Until Islam gets over their genocidal vitriol, they will continue breeding hate filled murderers.

Because it doesn't fit their agenda of keeping this war going so they can make the Bush Administration look hamstrung.
Muslims denouncing terror does not add to the "quagmire" concept the MSM just loves to purport. OR...
In the REAL world, those of us who have a clue realize that talk is cheap, and Islamazis can LIE to the infidels and NOT be penalized!
If they swore it...In ARABIC...on a Stack of Korans...it STILL wouldn't mean SQUAT!
Judge them by their ACTIONS! When they start turning in the Jihadis they are SHELTERING and protecting...when they turn from the way of violence against Jews...when they JOIN the fight against these supoposed "Bad Islamazis" that commit terror acts...THEN we might...MIGHT think about listening to them.
Don't hold your breath for ANY of these things to happen.
This is the War they have wanted....and now that they see we are ready to fight, they want Hudna....uh-uh, not this time!
