Yeah, I'm a bit concerned about the ability of China to meddle here, although propping up a bankrupt state that can't ever return the investment seems like a losing proposition.
Trying to use Cuba for military reasons didn't work well for the USSR.

Isn't Castro's brother next in line should he take room temperature ?

"I wish him a long, lingering, painful death". NO NO NO , he's find some American lawyer to defend him against crimes when his people rebel. Letthe people hang in in the streets like mussolini

I sorrow for these pitiful Cuban people - who for so long have suffered under the tyrant.
I am reminded of Eastern Europeans who for years believed that the US (the West) would invade and liberate them. Little did they know that politics got in the way of that and it would take Reagan and heroic people in the nations of Eastern Europe to bring the end to the Communist hell.

These developments have been carefully documented in numerous posts in Free Republic over the last several weeks, by me and others.Amazing pics. You'd think a so-called REAL journalist would be able to sneak some video out of their revered worker's paradise. Outstanding work. You're a better reporter than the paid aristocracy. One would think the MSM would admire the unpaid collective work of those who gather the hard news for FreeRepublic as much as they love their hero Fidel.

CNN has a Havana office and is reporting none of thisWhy should they? They have reporters in Aruba!

"Cuba is a paradise. Fidel told me so." ................ Who, that senile old fart? The Cuban people must smell (his) death in the air. They're feeling free-er. Are vultures circling over Castros home?

They will print stories of how the beaten up protesters were given excellent free care by the world class Cuban health care system. You will not find ANY of this in the Mainstream Media!

I don't think Fidel's brother is going to come to power. Discontentment around the Castros is too high. Cuba is on it's last leg, its national debt is too high, its country has the worst human rights violations next to some of the African countries, its Fidel's last stand. He knows his time is coming, and America does too. The Right of America will make its stand, and as long as the Free Republic is here we can spread this around.
