LONDON (Reuters) - Militant Islamists will continue to attack Britain until the government pulls its troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, one of the country's most outspoken Islamic clerics said on Friday.
Speaking 15 days after bombers killed over 50 people in London and a day after a series of failed attacks on the city's transport network, Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed said the British capital should expect more violence.
"What happened yesterday confirmed that as long as the cause and the root problem is still there ... we will see the same effect we saw on July 7," Bakri said.
"If the cause is still there the effect will happen again and again," he said, adding he had no information about future attacks or contacts with people planning to carry out attacks.
Bakri, a Syrian-born cleric who has been vilified in Britain since 2001 when he praised the September 11 hijackers, said he did not believe the bombings and attempted attacks on London were carried out by British Muslims.
He condemned the killing of all innocent civilians but described attacks on British and U.S. troops in Muslim countries as "pro-life" and justified.
In an interview with Reuters, Bakri described Osama bin Laden, leader of the radical Islamist network al Qaeda, as "a sincere man who fights against evil forces".
Bakri said he would like Britain to become an Islamic state but feared he would be deported before his dream was realised.
"I would like to see the Islamic flag fly, not only over number 10 Downing Street, but over the whole world," he said.
MESSAGE OF PEACE ... MESSAGE OF WAR
A hate figure for the British tabloid press, the bearded and bespectacled Bakri said Islam contained "a message of peace for those who want to live with the Muslims in peace".
"But Islam is a message of war for those who declare war against Muslims," he said.
"I condemn any killing and any bombing against any innocent people in Britain or abroad, but I expect the British people to condemn the killing of Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan."
However, asked about Islamist attacks on British and U.S. troops and on Israelis, he said: "If violence is pro-life I don't condemn it".
Britain has around 1,100 troops in Afghanistan and 8,500 in Iraq. Prime Minister Tony Blair supported the United States in its respective invasions of both countries in 2001 and 2003.
Bakri, a 46-year-old father of six, was born in Syria and lived in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. When the Saudi government expelled him in 1985 he came to London.
Nicknamed "The Tottenham Ayatollah" after the area of north London in which he lives, he has infuriated many Britons with his firebrand speeches and refusal to condemn suicide bombings.
He founded the British branch of Hizb ut-Tahrir, which describes itself as a non-violent political party dedicated to creating an Islamic caliphate centred on the Middle East.
But he split from the group in 1996 and set up al Muhajiroun, which won notoriety in 2001 for celebrating the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon which killed nearly 3,000 people.
Bakri has Syrian and Lebanese citizenship and says he thinks the British government might deport him to one of those two countries in the wake of this month's bombings.
"But I think that would be political suicide for the British government if they started to deport and imprison all extremists and radicals," he said.
"Because if, God forbid, something happened again, they would have nobody left to blame."
Response: Now one knows what is meant by the terms: "inclusion," "the big tent," "room at the table," "equality."
I've often thought lately that England should resurrect some of their more creative capital punishments from the Middle Ages, like drawing and quartering, especially for these people. The moo-slum extremists long for that particular time period anyway, right?
So give it to them.
The Muslims in this country will try to continue to gain political power and influence. The UN, the MSM, and most of the Societal institutions, even our government -- are geared toward forcing the New World Order upon the world population. This past g-8 summit, the participants agreed to look into a World Tax, yes A WORLD TAX for the poor.
Taxation without representation!! The failed Socialist experiments in Europe, France and Germany among others are in distress and tetering on bankruptcy.
The US remains one of the countries that allow it's citizens to be legally armed. They will slowly try to contain this US Constitutional right, by more gun control or controlling the purchasing the ammunition. When they start to control or contain these items, the flag should go up. The World Tax is another flag.
The undermining of the US Constitution started a long time ago. The direct move to disarm the US Citizen will not be tried, but these little nipps at our right to bare arms will continue and become so restrictive - the right to bare arms becomes a hollow claim.
The Muslims are just setting by, waiting to take advantage of all of the PC fissures the Socialist are imposing upon us to create their Utopia of Cumbaya! The Muslims will strike and strike hard.
The PC Socialist will try to smooth it over and say we must look at what CAUSED them to do this. (Our foreign policy), the devestation will be to much for the PC crowd to cover. It's time to take our country back.
Remember, Richard Gere, right after 9/11 getting booed off of the stage in NY!! These are the twerps. When this happens, hunt them, the twerps, down, they must be brought to the courts to face justice! The PC crowd must be made to see the injustice that they have caused.
You forgot the sarcasm tag.
(I hope.)
Yeah.
And so the Brits, ignoramuses just like us in the US, allow this monstrous lowlife to live in their country and pay him $600 per month welfare!
The guy is part of the problem. If England can't arrest an enemy agent active on its own soil during a war, then it DESERVES to become a stupid Islamic country.
Crusade
And let's apply them to Dick Durban and John Kerry while were at it. If the Brits enforced such laws they could clean out the troublesome mosques.
He was expelled by Syria.
Why is he still breathing? Brilliant of Britain to accept him.
"New World Order",well put.I agree something needs to be done, but i fear too many Americans have been(brainwashed)conditioned into accepting what the msm and liberal elites feed us."It's time to take our country back".I agree. What do you think it's gonna take to get Americans off their duffs?
Let me try to improve that for accuracy.
Say what you will, Islam is a powerful force of evil. All praise be to Allah (or, more accurately, Satan, Prince of Darkness, Father of Taqiyya/lies)!
There...much better.
I'm not sure, but considering the current mindset, it would probably be catastrophic. We are a people of laws and believe in the law. We see now our laws are being corrupted by the courts. I believe we will be wary and guage our actions to the actions of the government.
If things are under control with the government functionind properly, it will not be as terrible. If the government is not taking care of business, then we the people know enough of our basic laws and common sense.
Our country was founded on the basic principles of the Judeo/Christian philosphies, and we have lived together in peace for over two hundred years. We have tolerated each others traditions and beliefs with little or no animosity toward each other. Of course you always have exceptions but that happens in any society.
The government is doing poorly in protecting the borders and the interpreting of the laws. They need to become more Pro American in their stances, and speak from the heart.

One that worships this fellow. He always appeals to the greed of his minions.
BTW, notice the crescent moons...I wonder what the link to Islam is. Hmmm.
"I would like to see the Islamic flag fly, not only over number 10 Downing Street, but over the whole world."
This is not just about Iraq! Islamo-fascism has been thriving even before the US toppled Saddam Hussein. Islamic radicals like Bakri and terrorists like Zarqawi have been emboldened by the critics of Bush and Blair and by the MSM in the US and the UK.
