Airbags have made it unsafe to place infant car seats in the front, and consequently they are placed in the backseat, where they can be easily forgotten.
It would be almost impossible to "Forget" an infant, if it was in the seat next to you.
I hate airbags. I really miss the days when your youngsters kids could ride shotgun. We had our best times then, talking and singing to the radio.
My two older kids were able to ride up front until we eventually got a car with an airbag. My little girl never got the opportunity. She has a horrible sense of direction, and I think it's because she can never see past the heads in the front seat.
Another airbag death added to the ones that happen when a mother or father turns around to pacify a screaming child. It used to be so easy when all you had to do was reach right next to you and plug the pacifier back in the baby's mouth.
I agree with you 100%. Some people are absent minded. Putting a quiet baby in the rear seat means taking a chance. I'd rather unhook an airbag and take that chance if I had to use a child carseat. Once more, the intrusive government regulations force us not to make up our own minds!
I'm with you so far.
...where they can be easily forgotten.
What?!?
I hope you meant more easily.
so,from the time he left home till he got to work,he NEVER LOOKED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR!!!!!!!!!!!It would have been easy to see something in the back seat if your looking through the mirror....

Easily forgotten? I don't buy it. How could you ever forget that your kid is in the car with you?
true, but any real responsible parent doesn't forget their kid is in the back seat.

If you are serious you are either not a parent or a very inept one and I do not apologize if this offends you. Let me tell you, if my wife or I EVER forgot a child we each would have known that the other spouse would have murdered us without any hesitation, and I do not mean in a kindly and simple manner such as using a gun. We would have painfully dismembered the other. 'Forgetting' a tiny infant is unbelievable and inexcusable!!!!
"I interpreted it as another "airbag" death."
These things happened before airbags. Plenty of people would have the car seat in the back seat all the time even before airbags. Either for safety, or because the two parents would ride in the front. The car seats are a pain to move from place to place.
