I think they have the lineage wrong... I believe the mooselimbs lineage is the same as that of Herod--the Idumeans (sons of Essau)..

Scholars Scrutinize the Koran's Origin (snip)

Scholars like Mr. Luxenberg and Gerd- R. Puin, who teaches at Saarland University in Germany, have returned to the earliest known copies of the Koran in order to grasp what it says about the document's origins and composition. Mr. Luxenberg explains these copies are written without vowels and diacritical dots that modern Arabic uses to make it clear what letter is intended. In the eighth and ninth centuries, more than a century after the death of Muhammad, Islamic commentators added diacritical marks to clear up the ambiguities of the text, giving precise meanings to passages based on what they considered to be their proper context. Mr. Luxenberg's radical theory is that many of the text's difficulties can be clarified when it is seen as closely related to Aramaic, the language group of most Middle Eastern Jews and Christians at the time.

I also frequent a Persian restaurant in the neighborhood that has a fantastic wine list - another sure sign of non-Jihadis.

This is brilliant! Follow the wine. Than you for the hint.

Yup, he told me he actually left to get away from the war... and I don't see any visible scars to indicate he participated in it.

..this is why I just about fell out of my chair when the President, in what was otherwise an inspirational speech in time of national crisis, made pronouncements about Islam that had to have come directly from the State Dept.

What will it take to educate the world on this issue -- a mushroom cloud?

Charming. And we are going to "coexist" with these murderous psychopaths?

Charming indeed. Well, they don't expect us to, they expect to convert us or get rid of us. Doesn't seem to matter to them what we think.

How do 'moderate' Muslims explain the passages highlighted here? Do they ever? Are they ever asked? Do they, too, feel such hate? And then try to pretend they don't? Amazing, they don't seem to be questioned on it by many. What is CAIR's position? Laughable really.

"""How do 'moderate' Muslims explain the passages highlighted here?""

They TRY and explain them much differently- one can only be stunned that this made it onto the net.

The author Of the above opinion.. """is `Atiyyah Saqr, former Head of Al-Azhar Fatwa Committee""

From Jihad Watch another source I found:

"...Al-Azhar University in Cairo is the oldest and most respected institute of higher learning in the Islamic world. Its Grand Sheikh, Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi, wields enormous influence. Now MEMRI reports: "On March 22, 2004, Sheikh 'Atiyyah Saqr, former head of the Al-Azhar Fatwa Committee, who in the past issued a Fatwa declaring Jews 'apes and pigs,' (1) was asked the following question this week in an online chat room: 'What, according to the Qur'an, are the Jews' main characteristics and qualities?' The following is his answer:..."

Thank you. I sometimes read posts from imams, but have not seen this one or this site. Oh, my, the title alone says it all. Such a slanderous 'answer', no doubt taken to heart by many of his 'followers'. Every 'infidel' should read this. I wonder what the average Brit would think if they read this? Does he change his answer for presentation to non-Muslims? How can we live among them when this is what they are thinking amongst themselves? Rhetorical, really, because they don't care, they plan to convert us or eliminate us.

my impression is that islam is more of an anti-religion, than a religion. islam was formed as an anti-jewish and anti-christian religion.

Almost cultlike, and so they needed to sow distrust, fear and hatred of those different to make it viable. It does indeed seem like anti-Jewish/Christian first and foremost and as an afterthought, oh yeah, God.

It does hit the spot. They live for this enmity toward their brothers. But we aren't teaching old enmities as mainstream, this hatred of others. And those few who occasionally do teach hatred or morph verses to fit their unusual idealogies, like David Koresh at Waco, the numbers are smaller and they are regarded as cults and dangerous and then dealt with. But for this group, it's mainstream and accepted teaching for much larger groups - and the rest of us, the objects of this enmity, we are coddling them and expecting ourselves and others to be tolerant of their beliefs, which still apparently include the need to nurture this enmity, this hostility between us.

FYI, Many Muslim message boards have Muslim only forums- invisible to non-muslims.

As to Jews and the Koran..

I suggest the Unedited Version.
The sheik above clearly embellished, but didn't lie.

This from 'Pickthall' one of the 3 most respected English Translations of the Koran and includes Stated references (but not all the allusions etc to) Jews.
These are just where the Word 'Jew' or 'Jewish' is used'
These translations are not in dispute, tho there are slight variants.

http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Atlantis/3425/page184.htm

Verses in Koran which mention the Jews - Page 184

(10-3-99)

The word "Jews" appears in 19 verses in Pickthall’s translation of the Koran.

It is very interesting to note that the following words do not appear EVEN ONCE in Pickthall’s translation of the Koran:

"Greek", "Hebrew", "Aramaic", "Salvation", "Savior", "Saviour ". (Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic are the original languages of the Judaeo-Christian scriptures, which the Koran half-heartedly acknowledges as "divinely revealed") These verses from the Koran concerning the Jews speak for themselves.

[al-Baqarah 2:113.3] And the Jews say the Christians follow nothing (true), and the Christians say the Jews follow nothing (true); yet both are readers of the Scripture. Even thus speak those who know not. Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that wherein they differ.

[al-Baqarah 2:120.3] And the Jews will not be pleased with thee, nor will the Christians, till thou follow their creed. Say: Lo! the guidance of Allah (Himself) is Guidance. And if thou shouldst follow their desires after the knowledge which hath come unto thee, then wouldst thou have from Allah no protecting guardian nor helper.

[al-Baqarah 2:135.5] And they say: Be Jews or Christians, then ye will be rightly guided. Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Nay, but (we follow) the religion of Abraham, the upright, and he was not of the idolaters.

[al-Baqarah 2:140.16] Or say ye that Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes were Jews or Christians ? Say: Do ye know best, or doth Allah ? And who is more unjust than he who hideth a testimony which he hath received from Allah ? Allah is not unaware of what ye do.

[an-Nisa' 4:46.6] Some of those who are Jews change words from their context and say: "We hear and disobey; hear thou as one who heareth not" and "Listen to us!" distorting with their tongues and slandering religion. If they had said: "We hear and we obey: hear thou, and look at us" it had been better for them, and more upright. But Allah hath cursed them for their disbelief, so they believe not, save a few.

[an-Nisa' 4:160.7] Because of the wrongdoing of the Jews We forbade them good things which were (before) made lawful unto them, and because of their much hindering from Allah's way,

[al-Ma'idah 5:18.2] The Jews and Christians say: We are sons of Allah and His loved ones. Say: Why then doth He chastise you for your sins ? Nay, ye are but mortals of His creating. He forgiveth whom He will, and chastiseth whom He will. Allah's is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, and unto Him is the journeying.

[al-Ma'idah 5:41.35] O Messenger! Let not them grieve thee who vie one with another in the race to disbelief, of such as say with their mouths: "We believe," but their hearts believe not, and of the Jews: listeners for the sake of falsehood, listeners on behalf of other folk who come not unto thee, changing words from their context and saying: If this be given unto you, receive it, but if this be not given unto you, then beware! He whom Allah doometh unto sin, thou (by thine efforts) wilt avail him naught against Allah. Those are they for whom the Will of Allah is that He cleanse not their hearts. Theirs in the world will be ignominy, and in the Hereafter an awful doom;

[al-Ma'idah 5:44.23] Lo! We did reveal the Torah, wherein is guidance and a light, by which the prophets who surrendered (unto Allah) judged the Jews, and the rabbis and the priests (judged) by such of Allah's Scripture as they were bidden to observe, and thereunto were they witnesses. So fear not mankind, but fear Me. And My revelations for a little gain. Whoso judgeth not by that which Allah hath revealed: such are disbelievers.

-[al-Ma'idah 5:51.8] O ye who believe! Take Not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk. -

[al-Ma'idah 5:64.2] The Jews say: Allah's hand is fettered. Their hands are fettered and they are accursed for saying so. Nay, but both His hands are spread out wide in bounty. He bestoweth as He will. That which hath been revealed unto thee from thy Lord is certain to increase the contumacy and disbelief of many of them, and We have cast among them enmity and hatred till the Day of Resurrection. As often as they light a fire for war, Allah extinguisheth it. Their effort is for corruption in the land, and Allah loveth not corrupters.

[al-Ma'idah 5:69.9] Lo! those who believe, and those who are Jews, and Sabaeans, and Christians - Whosoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and doeth right - there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.

[al-Ma'idah 5:82.18] Thou wilt find the most vehement of mankind in hostility to those who believe (to be) the Jews and the idolaters. And thou wilt find the nearest of them in affection to those who believe (to be) those who say: Lo! We are Christians. That is because there are among them priests and monks, and because they are not proud.

[al-An`am 6:91.26] And they measure not the power of Allah its true measure when they say: Allah hath naught revealed unto a human being. Say (unto the Jews who speak thus): Who revealed the Book which Moses brought, a light and guidance for mankind, which ye have put on parchments which ye show, but ye hide much (thereof), and (by which) ye were taught that which ye knew not yourselves nor (did) your fathers (know it) ? Say: Allah. Then leave them to their play of cavilling.

[al-An`am 6:146.5] Unto those who are Jews We forbade every animal with claws. And of the oxen and the sheep forbade We unto them the fat thereof save that upon the backs or the entrails, or that which is mixed with the bone. That we awarded them for their rebellion. And lo! we verily are truthful.

[at-Taubah 9:30.3] And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who disbelieved of old. Allah (Himself) fighteth against them. How perverse are they!

[an-Nahl 16:118.6] And unto those who are Jews We have forbidden that which We have already related unto thee. And We wronged them not, but they were wont to wrong themselves.

[al-Hajj 22:17.11] Lo! those who believe (this revelation), and those who are Jews, and the Sabaeans and the Christians and the Magians and the idolaters - Lo! Allah will decide between them on the Day of Resurrection. Lo! Allah is Witness over all things.

[al-Jum`ah 62:6.8] Say (O Muhammad): O ye who are Jews! If ye claim that ye are favoured of Allah apart from (all) mankind, then long for death if ye are truthful.

The word "Jewish" appears once in Pickthall’s translation of the Koran.

[at-Taubah 9:34.9] O ye who believe! Lo! many of the (Jewish) rabbis and the (Christian) monks devour the wealth of mankind wantonly and debar (men) from the way of Allah. They who hoard up gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah, unto them give tidings (O Muhammad) of a painful doom,

Projection, plain and simple.

Every item listed perfectly describes what the arabs and muslims have done over the years.

Actually - it was no normalized WRITTEN language. Best book is Karen Armstrong's book 'Muhammed' - she is one of the foremost secular historians who writes on the Middle East, Christianity, Islam and Judaism.
