Hillary: Bush Court Picks are Anti-Civil Rights
NewsMax.com ^ | July 22, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 07/22/2005 6:45:21 AM PDT by Carl/NewsMax

2008 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is firing up the troops for the coming battle over the Supreme Court - taping a message for her supporters accusing President Bush of appointing judges who want undo the accomplishments of the civil rights movement.

In a "conversation" with Georgia Rep. John Lewis - videotaped shortly before Sandra Day O'Connor announced her retirement and posted to Clinton's web site in the last few days - the top Democrat hails the Warren court's landmark Brown vs Board of Education school desegregation decision.

Then Hillary warns darkly: "What we are experiencing today is a real movement to turn the clock back on the rights of Americans."

"Unfortunately, the people who are being appointed to the courts all too often have a pre-existing idea of what they're going to decide," she complains.

After praising the Warren Court, Clinton notes: "This year we have another very important anniversary. It's the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act."

At that point Rep. Lewis jumps in:

"That was a time when you had bold leadership from a president," he lamented. "But today there's a mindset to take us back - undo the New Deal, undo the Great Society, undo a lot of the things that your husband stood for and was able to accomplish."

Hillary assured Lewis there was no real cause for worry, saying, "I have a lot of faith in the American people and I believe we've come too far to turn back now."

She then tells supporters to stay tuned: "If there is an opening on the Supreme Court this summer, as there well might be, I hope that every American follows this debate."

And, YOUR stance on the 2nd Amendment???????

On the 2nd amendment, she is so full of crap that listening to her I want to vomit.

She now, acts like she is a the head of the NRA and talks more pro-gun then Heston, while she is the biggest backer of gun grabbers in the country.

her lack of shame in lying about her belief in the 2nd amendment, is so appaling that the lack of shame, is disgusting.

It is your party trying to govern from the bench that has brought us to where we are today Broom Hitler.

After your latest, "I tried to join the Marines" BS, after telling our servicemen to stay at least so many feet away from you and refrain from wearing their uniforms, when you occupied the White House, I'm pretty sure you are so full of guano your eyaes have turned brown.

I think a full 60% of the American Public knows every time you open your mouth it is time to pick up a shovel.

I know exactly what you and Slick think of our courts

Interesting comments.....especially because when she was a kid in school (before college) she was opposed to brown vs board of ed and use to debate her teachers on why segregation was right.

For those who don't know, Hillary also campaigned (when she was in high school) for Goldwater.

Hillary must go. Those of you in the New York area, feel free to go to www.urbanelephants.com, a new community that's specifically working on NY. We don't have much time to work with, but we have to do everything we can.
The guy that started Slant Point started it a couple days ago...feel free to stop by.

One should assume that professional judges would have clear ideas about the law by the time they are appointed.

where was her opposition to his appointment when it was to the DC circuit? Surely a man this dangerous should not serve on SCOTUS, let alone the DC Circuit?

Bush picks are guarding the rights guaranteed in the constitution. Hillary is really worried about the "rights" granted by activists judges.

It remains to be seen. Let's hope that W did a better job
of checking than his father did.

I worry about the guy. I worried about Thomas because of the
RINO who was sponsoring him.

In this case I just hope that the worst fears of Hillary,
Teddie, Chuckie, etc are realized.

It does remain to be seen, of course.

I take comfort in the fact that Bush desires not to make the 3 mistakes of his dad; raise taxes, leave Saddam in Iraq, and appoint Souter.

And you raise an excellent point, Thomas was an unkown quantity back when he was appointed and he's propably FR's favorite. He sure is mine.

So now Mrs. Clinton is quoting from the Swimmer's play book against Bork? ---

Mrs. Clinton really isn't the sharpest pencil in the box.

Nope, and a presidential run in the era of the New Media is going to make that clear.

Run, Hillie, run.

Hey b*tch, the President is right. The government has no right favoring one group over another.
