I just put to sleep my best friend. Sparky, the best looking German Shorthaired Pointer this side of the Mississippi. He has his way and let me know it was time that he moved on to Rainbow Bridge.
Sparky turned 15 years old July 3rd, 2005. He was the best dog I have ever known. What a great friend and companion. While I worked evening shift...(most of my career) We would get up and go to the lake, play frisbee, go swimming and meet other dog people. Sparky-boo as I affectionately call him, got me out to see all the seasons, 90 degress plus or 30 degrees below.
I can't believe he is gone. He was laid to rest between 7pm and 8pm today Chicago time. I had to come and write this in his memory.
I cannot say enough about him. Mama's boy he may have been, we stuck together like birds of a feather.
I am so glad I decided to hold him as he received the 2 shots that gave him relief from his labored breathing.
I have to say in this all, I stopped and thanked the Lord for making Sparky and sending him to me.To think Jesus made Sparky just for me!! Awesome!! The Lord taught me a lot about myself through Sparky.
On time as Sparky got very interested in something and ran off across the park...FORGETING about me, I felt like the Holy Spirit said..YOU are just like Sparky! Running off getting interested in something and forgeting about GOD!!
The point was well taken.
Ping!
My sincerest condolences... Losing such a wonderful friend is heartbreaking, I know.
I can only hope that Rainbow Bridge is for real.

I'm going to have to make that decision with two of my dogs. The oldest is 16 and the younger is 15 and blind.
They are still active and are fun to be with.
Thanks. I read the bible. In a story I read this morning I realized that the Lord knows how much someone can love an animal.

2nd Samuel 12:1-3
How do you put pictures up on this site??
Very sorry. I know just how much this hurts.....
I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I'm sure that Sparky wants to tell you that he cares and everything is OK where he's at. God Bless.
You did something I could never do, I truly feel your loss.
Cats, dogs or whatever, just seem to fill that little spot in our souls that makes us just a little bit more human......
She was beautiful. Mrs. Liberty, look at this dog.
I'm so sorry.
I think the picture has to already be on the net somewhere like for me I can post a picture from my ISP hosting site that allows me to store pictures there. other than that I really can't help you, sorry.
Its always hard to lose a pet.
I have fond memories of Sparky's contemplation of a run at the Republican nomination for the US Senate seat last year.
So sorry for your loss. I know you are a 'lady' from your name, but I think you'll understand the sentiment in this other favorite poem is not limited to old men ;~D:
MISSING OUR DOGS
Old Men miss many dogs.
They only live a dozen years,if that,
And by the time you are sixty, there are several
The names of which evoke remembering smiles.
You see them in your mind, heads cocked and seated.
You see them by your bed, or in the rain,
Or sleeping by the fire by nights
And always dying.
They are remembered like departed children
Though they gave vastly more than ever they took,
And finally you're seeing dogs that look like them.
They pass you in the street but never turn
Although it seems they should, their faces so familiar.
Old men miss many dogs.
He's romping now through the bright sunny fields beyond the bridge, where there are no cars, there are lots of cats to annoy, and every toilet seat is up and offering cold, crisp water to drink (that was my Golden Retriever's idea of heaven...)
Our neighbors own a German Shorthaired Pointer. They are absolutely gorgeous dogs, their fur is silkier than silk, and if Dasha is typical of the breed, they have perfectly sweet dispositions.
Post pics when you find out how, I'd love to see a pic of your dear friend.
My condolences to you. We do love our wonderful animal friends and companions.
You link to an existing website's picture. As I understand it, you can't just insert a graphic like you can with Word.
I remember my dog, half Siberian Husky and half Border Collie. She was a sweetheart. I'm sorry for your loss; I know how we love our pets.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your Sparky...thank you for sharing.
