It's Saturday evening, the end of a hot day, and a group of women and children have gathered at North Seattle's Meadowbrook Pool for their monthly swim.
Most of the pool staff has left, except for two female lifeguards, who on this day will be on duty for the next two hours.
The women and children all Muslims have been swimming in private once a month at Meadowbrook as part of a program organized by the North Seattle Family Center.
Because Islam requires Muslim women to fully cover themselves in public, swimming in pools or the ocean is largely off-limits for many.
But across the Puget Sound area, that's starting to change as public and private pools at times are sending home their male staff members, covering up their windows and allowing women of faith to swim alone and in private...
Access to these pools is not free; the groups, like all others that use these facilities, pay a rental fee....

If it is based on religious consideration. The women are certainly allowed to build their own pools.
"We rented a city pool for the homeschool association. I don't see why Moslem women and children shouldn't."
That's fine. The problem I have is these people get to wear head to toe LAYERED garments straight into the pool when other public pool users have to abide by the STRICT POOL GUIDELINES which state no one can wear cut off jean shorts into the pool, only "appropriate swimwear" and everyone must walk through the indoor designated men and women lockeroom showers before entering the pool. I know since I use to be a lifeguard at a PUBLIC POOL.
"Only Muslim men think nasty lecherous thoughts about Muslim women."
Even the American liberal news stated that huge video sales of "porn" in the middle east has only been surpassed by large video, dvd sales of the beheadings of non-muslims in and around Iraq. All I needed to know.
Unless you worked at this particular public pool during the recent past, your experience is indicative, but not authoritative.
However, that's neither here nor there, in my opinion. If local people have objections, they can file them with their city recreation department or their city council. If the representatives don't respond as one wishes, then the opportunity is there to vote them out at the next election.
" Unless you worked at this particular public pool during the recent past, your experience is indicative, but not authoritative. "
And your response is typical liberal circle jerk lingo and appeasement for the anti-American movement.
"That's nice. It's not segregated but brings Christians, Muslims and Jews to socialize together and play together."
And we ALL know how "nicely" Muslims "play" with Christian and Jews (insert sound of bomb exploding here.)
How clean are their clothes, robes and Muslim costumes before they jump in the YMCA/YWCA pool? Do you like jumping into a washing machine when you go swimming? The fully clothed Muslim woman I saw went into the ocean where she can only bother the fishes. Here they are messing 'round with a public pool
LOL
Both are porn. One is the "snuff film" variety of porn. And what women are in their porn? White and Asian women. These Muslim pervs are watching them, not their fat cows with their hijabs and burqas thrown off.
There are pockets of serious madness in our nation.
Bless your heart. You have a nice day.
"Whether or not a few "shy" (for lack of a better term) women want to take a dip in a rented pool in Seattle is not my concern. What should worry about is what their husbands and sons are talking about in their mosque."
I'm doing what you're not supposed to do in law... applying what I know, and applying common sense.
If a bunch of Amish, or Orthodox women wanted to rent the place for an evening of modest fun, ok. It doesn't affect me, and it doesn't harm me. I say have fun.
But, from the big picture perspective, I know what islam is about. This is symbolic as much as anything else. This is islam's refusal to assimilate, and knowing how aggressive muslims are, I would wager it won't be long before they'll push the envelope. What's next, requiring public sponsored time for muslims without infidels in the pool? Think that won't happen? Think they won't offend infidels such as myself by sounding the call to prayer 5 times a day in public?
When you start giving ground, it gets harder and harder to make a stand. Stand now. If they want to assimilate, great, let them be part of us. Don't let them balkanize us.
As for the women, who are nothing more than possessions to the muslim men... I would bet 1/2 of them would rather swim like westerners. Anytime they wish, without being in full dress. But, to risk that is to risk a horrible beating.
Gee, why would I be upset about people like that?
All of my 8 great-grandparents came here from Bavaria in 1870-71. In 70 years my relatives would have comprised quite a tribe of 2nd and 3rd (and 4th) generation Germans right there. They worked, paid taxes, had families, supported the Church, served in the military, and suffered no discrimination here in the USA that I have ever heard of. Should they have?
So, you support the feminazis?
The talibani are camel dung!
My father in law coached a tennis clinic two years ago in Kansas City where one of the kids was a pre-teen muzzie girl whose mother made her wear the head scarf and bulky clothing. My father in law TOLD the mother that the girl couldn't move and be competitive while wearing all the extra clothing. the mother wouldn't budge and insisted her kid be treated like all the other kids. It was at least 110 degrees on the black top courts with 85 percent humidity. It's hot humid and heat stroke kills in a matter of minutes if left untreated.
Muzzie culture is not competitive and can't survive on a level playing ground.
LOL! REAL women don't burn their bras!
We cant have muslimes changing the Culture of Freedom in the United States. If they want to live under the Koran, they need to stay in the Middle East where its acceptable.
Wonder how long before these women become "Americanized"?
LOL. My thoughts exactly.
Women with generous bosoms can't afford to burn their bras!
Have you seen the price on those things?! I'd go broke! LOL.
