Just poked my head back in to see how things were going....yes, I agree that the woman prosecutor seemed to have had a great deal to say in the two weeks before she left, only nothing seemed to make sense. She'd contradict herself. Then when she suddenly left, they said she'd planned the vacation back to Holland, but was retiring right after that. They couldn't even lie competently. Clearly, she was being replaced. And now we hear some Aruban LE officer has been sent to Quantico to get some in depth instruction on forensics or maybe interview techniques...and FBI profilers are now helping out. I wonder who the new witness is.
No, I heard that too, that Joran's lawyer and the Kalpoe's lawyer/s were very upset and trying to stop FBI help. The whole thing stinks to high heaven, and since plea bargaining isn't allowed, they'll have to find a way to turn one of them against the others.

The big question here is why hide te body if it was an accident? I'm sure he panicked, but "drug and alcohol-induced panic??? I don't know...are you going to risk going to jail for an accident? Would his father let him risk going to jail because of an accident? Would he go to school the next day and brag about being with someone that he knows died in an accident? Deepak threatened with going to jail lies about an accident to cover for his 'friend' even after that 'friend' tried to direct the investigation so that Deepak looked guilty of something? All this time in jail and Paulus is supposedly telling all these people about the accident, but not telling the police? I don't know...I'll have to chew on this a little. Sounds more like people trying to make excuses for Joran.
I think Palmer may just have passed along street rumor from old acquaintances in Aruba and tried to sound like she know more than she did by saying it came from PVDS. But I could be wrong.
I wasn't keen on the home videos, either, but the dance troup seems to be a big deal with kids at that school. They're more or less cheerleaders, without the throws and gymnastics that sometimes end up with broken ankles...plus they get to wear spangly outfits. At least they aren't as skimpy as some of the cheerleader outfits. They looked fairly conservative, except for the sparkle -- like a drum and bugle corp drill team without instruments...just flags.

This statement is ludicrous, that papa VDS would even confess such a thing to the school makes no sense, let alone that he'd think people would accept that Joran 'felt he had no choice but to dispose of her body in the sea'. On the other hand, that original statement (pack of lies), J and the K bros. made was full of hot air about what a gent J was and what a slut N was and they expected everyone to believe that without question. It got them released, too. I'm still hoping the two guards will sue somebody's pants off.
I worried about FBI involvement compromising the case, but if Aruban LE get lessons in what to do, everything from collecting evidence to interview techniques, and they do it, themselves...just coached by the FBI, that would hardly be unfair. You know the lawyers would appeal anyway. They need to turn one against the others. Perhaps that's the witness they're talking about, especially if say, the Kalpoes' mom (who doesn't look as if she's rich), could claim at least part of the 100K reward on the basis of what her sons have told her.
Sounds about right to me, too.

Victim's mother met suspect at church function in April 2005. Suspect moved into residence as boyfriend/room mate.
On Friday 07/22/05 at around 0530 hrs suspect took victim's mother to work at Scolari's in Fernley, Nevada. At around 1200 hrs suspect called and told mother that he was unable to pick her up.
Mother returned home at around 1500 hrs to find suspect, daughter, and brown cocker spaniel dog missing along with victim and suspect's clothing. Mother attempted to locate daughter and suspect until around 2330 hrs when she called the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

Suspect has a past—more than 10 years ago—history as a sex offender. Convicted in LA for Lewd and Lascivious behavior, served time and was released. He was supposed to register but don’t know if he was registered in Lyon County.
Suspect was in possession of all victim and mother's identification ie: birth certificate, SS card, etc.
Suspect took all photographs of victim from the residence. Mother had very little personal infomation on suspect. Mother and suspect had been arguing about the attention suspect was paying towards the vicitm and moving to San Diego, California.
VEHICLE: 11:00am Vehicle is a 2001 Kia Rio, 4 door sedan. Bluish/gray—they don’t know what shade of blue - no plates - may be traveling with a brown cocker spanial dog - unknown direction of travel - suspect has relatives/friends in Las Vegas - and San Diego
There was a possible sighting of the suspect last night in Reno at an auto parts store where someone matching his description bought a car battery.
Last seen noon Friday.
I hope all the stops are pulled to try find this girl as was done for Natalee. If I do not see that happening I will really question why the media and the authorities picked one child to spotlight over another. This child is most likely suffering at this very moment!
It will be a big test to see if Greta and FOX and all those who have jumped on the wagon to find Natalee have the same empathy for a poor little 8 year old girl who is known to be in the hands of a SEX OFFENDER at this VERY MOMENT and maybe being molested even as we speak!!!! Immediate attention and action just might prevent her suffering - or worse in the hands of the likes of a John Couey. She needs to be found NOW so we won't have to wonder afterwards ---"what happened???"

I watched a former FBI agent comment (on Fox, I think) about the FBI involvement at this point and he said that the trail would be completely cold or trampled at this point. He thought there was little the FBI could do on this case (except for what they are doing in the forensics lab with the duct tape).
He compared Aruban LE qualifications for a case like this to what might be the available in most small towns in the U.S.

I believe the Amber alerts save lives. But I do get scared that the perp might decide to do something horrible if he knows he is broadcast all over the place...
