We just had guests this weekend from AZ. He is a big lib, criminal defense lawyer. He was terribly defensive about the "aliens" (member of ACLU, need I say more?) Claimed the Minutemen were the worst kind of vigilantes.........he said they were actually "hunting, with intent to kill" the illegals. He and Mr. RR got into a rather heated verbal war of words. They left a day sooner than expected.
No loss.
We may have a hurricane coming in. Sounds like a perfect opportunity for a bad guy to cross.
I am finding more and more that I can afford to lose "friends" like the ones you describe, even if they are are old friends. Differences of opinion these days can be matters of life and death, which trump conventional conceptions of friendship, IMO .
"Claimed the Minutemen were the worst kind of vigilantes."
Wow, where'd he get that "vigilante" talking point? Was that from W?
ACLU attorney also claimed he had never heard of MS-13 (SalvaMaratrucha (sp.). So much for being aware and up to date.
Three cheers for Mr. RR!

If you look at their policies here http://www.minutemanhq.com/hq/sop.php
it would seem the Minutemen are indeed the worst kind of vigilantes: "You have agreed to abide by a no contact, no engagement policy...You will not be coming to Arizona to challenge anyone, any idea, any person -- your challenge is with yourself. Your challenge will be, simplistically put, to behave yourself."
Sounds more like a yoga retreat to me! What sort of vigilante challenges no one and contacts no one?
