Thank you. Whew. This SP might have opened a large can of whoop-ass homemade worms.
If they did that .. they could kiss their polticial careers Good Bye
Count on that!
For the unenlightened: Who is Walter Pincus?
Wasn't he the center for the San Diego Chargers?< /sarcasm>
There's no doubt in my mind that the Dems could attempt to impeach Bush. Partly, I hate to say it, as payback for Clinton.
This could make a great Clancy novel.
Hagel ending up in handcuffs would be just as satisfying to me as almost any Democrat.
Since Wilson was anti-Saddam before the oil-for-food program began and pro-Saddam after, you may have a good theory. I think Wilson has a number of "European" friends that may have had their gravy train cut off.
That's what goes for journalism these days, isn't it?
I agree with you on that...but if this NYT article is about a secret file the Bush Admin kept on Wilson, it may backfire on Hillary...she still has a lot of splaining to do re her filegate.
Posted this on a thread the other day but it's worth repeating: Bill Gertz says Plame was outed before Novaks column.

Born in Brooklyn, Walter Pincus worked as a copyboy at the New York Times after graduating from Yale University. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1955 and served in the U.S. Army Counterintelligence Corps in Washington from 1955-1957. After his discharge, he worked on the copy desk of The Wall Street Journal's Washington edition. He left in 1959 to become Washington correspondent for three North Carolina newspapers. In 1963, he moved to the Washington Star before joining The Washington Post, where he worked from 1966 to 1969. From 1972 to 1975, he was executive editor of The New Republic. He covered the Watergate Senate hearings, the House impeachment hearings and the Watergate trial, writing articles for the magazine and op-ed pieces for The Washington Post. In 1975, he returned to The Washington Post to write for the national staff of the newspaper.
This situation is not that complicated & could be broken down into a few sound bites that would sell it. "WH outted one of our spies to take revenge on her husband." Trying to correct the bad sell is what gets more complicated.
Nixon's impeachment was much easier, because a bunch of burglars in a DNC office is much easier to understand.
A whole lot of dynamics have changed since then.
1) It was before cable & before the net! The big three really were the big three & most people trusted them.
2) Agnew had already dirtied the administration.
3) Donks had the House, so the hearings were the real deal, government of record kinda thing. The donks were serious lawmakers, not shrill kooks trying to do or say anything to get back in power again.
4) Nixon lacked charm & believe me, that was important.
I think impeachment is the goal or at least a black spot so large President Bush will be known for nothing else.
SCOTUS may be part of a one-two punch or the vehicle.
Events are too coordinated to be part of a continuously breaking news story. The events are unfolding in a way that leads me to believe is very methodical.
The hatred consuming the left in DC is unlike anything I could have ever imagined. I'm guessing you and I are about the same age. I can remember a time when the Office of the President was treated with such respect. Now the Minority leader calls him a liar and a loser in front of school kids for God's sake.
It goes back to 2000, the successes Bush had in spite of 9/11, the GOP gains, etc.
In some ways they are like the terrorists...they can wait. Bang the drum often, no matter how long it takes. Sooner or later it will stick.
I do believe impeachment is in the plan. I have heard more comparisons to Watergate than I would have imagined.
I also think there are many little subplots we are not aware of which is why it seems we change directions as to motive, who the target is, etc.
I believe in my heart of hearts that Dems are in this for power, but someone else is in this with one goal--Destroy Bush.
WHy did they wait till after the election to pull this out of the hat??
I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't the reason that Tenent resigned. I think that he requested the investigation, I know the request came from someone in the CIA.
It makes much more sense that Plame herself was Judith Miller's source. After all, Miller has been writing on WMD issues for years and Plame is in the WMD section of the CIA. Plame could have been leaking info to Miller for years. It would certainly explain why Miller won't give up her "source".
He co-produced with CBS News a two-hour documentary in 1992, WATERGATE: THE SECRET STORY, with Mike Wallace as correspondent that was broadcast on CBS June 17, 1992 and accompanied by articles in The Washington Post and Newsweek. In 1993, he directed a combined research effort among The Washington Post, Newsweek and CBS News on the 30th anniversary of the John F. Kennedy assassination. That resulted in a November 1993 series in The Washington Post, a major package of articles in Newsweek, and another co-production with CBS News, of a two-hour documentary, THE KENNEDY ASSASSINATION, with Dan Rather broadcast Nov. 19, 1993.
