I agree with you.
Even if in the U.S. the police couldn't convince a judge to hold the suspects in custody, the police would be watching their every move. In Aruba, the suspects (with the exception of wire taps) seem to be left alone to destroy evidence, dig up and dispose of a body, etc. This smacks of either gross incompetence OR a rigged investigation to clear one of their own.
Wasn't it in Holland that a group of Muslim teenagers were released by police after raping (and perhaps murdering - I forgot) a retarded girl because ... they were afraid of an anti-Muslin backlash? Great thinking. Ranks up there with "Well, we will release several suspects in a murder even though there is something really fishy going on. And we won't watch them after their release!" As Gomer Pyle would say: "Surprise, Surprise!" The evidence is destroyed and the body is vanished.
Pray for the family.
The barrel they found contained only cement.
Interesting to read her comments, but what Dan Riehl wrote in my post #1779 was far from "filth," wouldn't you say? She certainly wasn't talking about the article I posted. Dan was merely saying that some other people saw something different initially. No matter what, Natalee still ended up with the three guys. That's the sad part.
It paints a very different picture of Joran vdS than the vicious one we have been served up so far.
I hasten to add that again, it's an anonymously sourced internet post. There's is no way for us to know whether it's true.
(That only reinforces the point I've been trying to make for weeks: That most of what we think we "know" about this case is based on very shaky "evidence" and often contradictory "witness" statements.)
Why do people post these anonymous stories on sites like RW and SM? Here's my list of possibilities:
(1) They do know something about the case, but are putting out disinformation to try to divert attention from the real culprits. (This would be the most sinister motive.)
(2) They know nothing about the case, but are making up stories for the fun of it.
(3) They are disgruntled Arubans who know Joran and either dislike or like him, and post stories true or untrue to try to sway opinion.
(4) They really do know something, and are posting true stories.
If any of the story tellers are motivated by (4), I hope they are actually talking to real investigators, and not merely posting on the internet.
From everything I have read and seen, my feeling is that it is a rigged investigation. It is quite evident the Aruban system easily allows the "well connected" to get off easily. I am sick and tired of people talking about the superiority of their system.
It was filled with concrete and obviously had been in the ocean for a very long time.
Thanks for the update!
I'm out for the afternoon but will catch up this evening.
You're doing an awesome job.
Country moon wrote my post#473 on this thread.
At 17, Where you gambling also and staying out till 4 am when school is in a couple of hours?
The night when Beth went there was late Sunday.
In the wee early Monday morning hours 2:30-3a.m he was reportedly at the casino when cops and Beth/Family went to his father's home.
mark
Didn't Beth go down on Monday after Nat failed to show up for her Monday morning flight?
I've never been out 'til 4 AM in
my life! And I'm a grandma! lol
Yes, I do respect Mark Fuhrman. I wish I could say he was my pal! Alas, not.
I don't put a lot of stock in Fuhrman's speculations, however, since he was so wrong in the Jessica Lunsford case.
But of course I'll defer to his knowledge of U.S. criminal legal process. If Fuhrman said that "it would have been [easy] for US cops to get a search warrant and seize clothing and evidence from the suspects the first night," then I'll believe him and retract my "doubt" on that point.
Did you know Joran at first denied knowing Natalee until confronted with the fact that he was seen leaving C&C with her?
If you can produce proof of this, then I'll "know" it.
As for you not having a benevolent attitude towards the 3 suspects, you have stated you "don't think they murdered Natalee, nor know of her ultimate fate." I think that is pretty benevolent considering what we know.
Yes, I did state that as my theory. There's a difference between saying "I think" something, and asserting it as absolute fact.
And I don't see how one can reasonably construe that as "benevolent." That was simply my personal, non-professional theorizing of the case up to that point, given the very few facts we've seen so far.
Most other posters on these threads are posting their own personal, non-professional theories, too. Again, if you have a problem with a theory different from your own, I once more suggest to you that you found your own forum where you can brook no dissent.
If and when we begin to see hard evidence that Joran or the Kalpoes might be guilty of some crime, then I of course reserve the right to change my theory!
As far as Beth apologizing, it was to the people of Aruba, not the Kalpoe's and in fact she has recently reiterated she thought what they did was wrong and obstructed justice with their lying....
I said I thought Beth made the correct strategic move in apologizing. Whatever she meant (or didn't mean) with that apology, I think she realized that her earler statement had destroyed a lot of the good will she'd worked so hard to build up in Aruba.
Her "apology" (or whatever you prefer to call it) was a first step in regaining that good will, and possibly getting some cooperation (e.g., tips) that MIGHT HELP HER FIND HER DAUGHTER.
And that's what's important to her, I'm sure.
Well, if you count the occasional Friday night poker game, yes I was gambling. However, I can guarantee that I was not staying out 'til 4 AM on school nights.
See you later maggief.
Lol, yes I remember that one toldyou.
Thanks Vn_survivor_67-68.
One of my sons (thankfully not all) does party/play poker/hang out with friends, late into the night, about five nights a week. Yes, he is in college, but he did that in his last year of high school too (like Joran). Also like Joran, he is very successful academically and shows a certain degree of responsibility (he still gets up in the morning and goes to work!).
My boys tussled and kicked and punched, occasionally. When they were little. I can't even imagine the older one kicking anyone when he was 17, much less his younger brothers!
And so did mine. Not when they were 17.
I'm only mentioning the kicking thing because Mrs. van der Sloot said something about it in an interview. She did not say how old Joran was when he kicked his younger brothers.
Finally, maybe it's just me, but for a mom to describe one of her sons as a "chick-magnet" is just odd. Popular, nice looking young man, smart, funny, polite, etc. are terms I have definitely used. But "chick-magnet"?
Well, sorry if that offends you. I don't like politically correct language. "Chick-magnet" may not be PC, but it accurately describes the phenomenon I've seen.
When I used to drive my son to school, before his senior year, I would see girls literally, physically throw themselves at him as soon as he got out of the car. Hugging and caressing him.
Now when you and I were girls, we didn't do that kind of thing. Or, at least "nice" girls didn't.
Times have changed, and even "nice" girls now openly throw themselves at boys. I don't like it one bit, but that's the culture we live in.
