Oh, nonsense.
We can't have our cake and eat it too.
Many here accused Kerry of treason - using a fairly wide description of that term.
Perhaps he was .. I dunno.
But Rove's committed a classic case of treason - deliberately outing a secret operative for base political motives - and Freepers seem willing to give him a get-out-of-jail card.
What rank hypocrisy.

No surprise, probably. You surface-skimmers never do.:
What isn't controversial is this: Karl Rove didn't "out" Valerie Plame as a CIA agent to intimidate Joe Wilson. He was dismissing Joe Wilson as a low-level has-been hack to whom nobody should pay attention. He was right then, and if he said it today, he'd still be right.
And if Valerie Plame wants to live a quiet spy life, she should stop having her picture taken by society photographers and stop getting stories written about her on the front page of the Times.
It always helps to have the FACTS before you accuse othres of hypocrisy. Otherwise you look like a complete and utter fool.
Rove didnt out anybody..
Could you post a link?
You need to read up on the law which you are accusing Rove of violating. (Somewhat like Howard Dean saying that Tom DeLay should go back to Texas to serve his jail term, when Tom Delay hasn't been indicted of a crime.)
Source?
Oh, nevermind. Just go away.
She was NOT a 'secret agent' she was a mid level pencil pushing analyst who drove her BMW to work at CIA HQ in Langley, Va EVERY DAY. Now be a good boy and go dag the hocket before I piss in your billabong
horse hockey. read the article, read the law.
Even IF Rove "outed" old Valerie, which he didn't do, he committed NO "treason". Plame was NOT a "covert" operative, neither had she been one for well over five years ( the time limit, dear, go read what exactly is a crime! ),and she committed a crime, by sending her attention grasping husband on a trip he wasn't qualified to do and that's nepotism. It's also abject stupidity, but they're Dems. WHAT'S YOUR EXCUSE?
You haven't been paying attention or reading a damn thing have you?
Utter crap.
Valerie Plame was NOT a "secret operative" for the CIA at the time, and had not been for nearly ten years. She was well known around town as an EMPLOYEE of the CIA, and didn't need to be "outed" by anyone.
Get an education before posting on this subject again, please.
You compare Kerry's actions, which included lying through one's teeth to give aid to an enemy with which the United States was actively engaged in combat ...
... to Rove's actions, which at worst amounted to outing a politically-charged couple that were actively attempting to unfairly discredit the President by lying through their teeth, and in doing so mentioning the name of a woman who had not been "in the field" for months.
... and which one of these would require a broader definition of treason.
What enemy did Rove help exactly?
Why did Plame recommend her husband for an intelligence gathering job, and why did Plame's husband lie about what he saw?
With all due respect, you may be a journalist and you may be an Aussie, but a moderate you're not. You are more that welcome to review all my post in this forum to find any form of flame from me (which you will find are rare if not nonexistent), but you, sir, are a scumbag, and worse, you assume that we are idiots.
Where did you read this claptrap?
Yikes. For someone who claims to be a working journalist, you sure seem to have a problem with objectivity.
Where does Podheretz go wrong, in your opinion, in his recap of the facts?
Did Jayson Blair move to Australia?
A classic case of treason????????? Spare me the hystronics.
Meeting secretly with the N.Vietnamese in France to discuss the defeat and withdrawal of US forces isn't treason in your mind?
I can't believe you've been here this long without being ZOTTED!
Your comments sound like NYTimes front page propaganda.
I bet John McVain is your favorite American politician too, right after Hillary.
Do you think Hillary is a moderate like yourself?
G'day.
There is no indication that Rove outed anyone.
What he said was that Wilson's wife at CIA got him the yellow cake mission.
1. He didn't name her.
2. He didn't say she was a covert operator. (People who are doing personnel assignments work are not currently in covert roles. If James Bond took Moneypenny's job at the desk, and I told you Bond ordered the tickets for the Q's trip to Jamaica, would that be outing Bond as a DoubleO?)
3. This is a witchhunt.
