The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Well, those are good questions.

I have this site that is somewhat in chronological order. (Somewhat, because links of various dates connect to each other and this may make some links out of chronological order.) It highlights what happened before, during and after 9/11.

The UN Security Council voted unanimously to expand a list of individuals or entities subject to tough financial sanctions because of links with Al-Qaeda extremists or Afghanistan's Taliban.

In line with previous resolutions relating to Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, the council called on all states to freeze without delay financial assets of individuals and entities linked to them, prevent their entry or transit through their territories and halt direct or indirect supply of arms and ammunition to them.

"It comes at a very important moment when terrorism is showing more strength. It's important that we reinforce and expand the sanctions against Al-Qaeda and those who are associated with Al-Qaeda," said Algeria's UN envoy Abdallah Baali said.

Loyalists of Al-Qaeda's Iraq frontman Abu Musab al-Zarqawi announced Wednesday that they had killed two Algerian diplomats, whom they had seized in Baghdad six days earlier.

Killing, torturing and maiming people in the name of Allah hardly earns them supportive accolades. It's not rocket science turning people against them - its cold hard facts.

How'd they get employed on that base in the first place? Whoever dropped the ball on hiring these people shouldn't be employed there anymore either IMHO. There are ample HR resources available (including background checks) to prevent this type of thing from happening, especially in areas where military security is compromised!

I read a tentative report on one of the military sites describing the possibilities of troop reduction/withdrawl from the area.

Of course this will cause the insurgents to back off and leave us alone as soon as it is implemented (if I recall correctly that IS one of their demands from last year...) (waking from dream world now).
