Per the NYT’s Kristof, the CIA brought Plame and others back to Washington for safety reasons out of concern that Aldrich Aimes had disclosed their identities to the Russian’s before his arrest in 1994.

I had a long conversation with one rather bright young man that wanted me to not cancel.

I used to do the same, then found out that the caller is not an employee of the paper. The caller works for a marketing firm.

Then I learned another trick, but it depends on how the caller starts the pitch. If they ask "has the delivery been timely?" I say "Yes!" If they ask whether or not I enjoy the paper, or similar, I tell them I am delighted. End of call, everybody's happy, and I am the only one the wiser.

So the NYT has decided to OPENLY GO FOR YELLOW JOURNALISM.

Does the NYT have any credibility?

Serioiusly, the NYT has a reputation for MAKING UP information so who can honestly say the NYT not just making it up? answer NOBODY!

Even FNC is buying the NYSlimes line. The MSM is going to circle the waggons. I am so disapointed that FNC is not point out the NYT effort.

Sounds to me like Rove clearly identified her as working for the CIA
____________-

Jobs at the CIA, include:

Individuals who come to the DI are experts in a range of fields and can expect to apply their knowledge, expertise, and research skills to develop focused intelligence assessments from many sources of information. DI officers include a range of professionals, scientists, and experts from a variety of disciplines—you may have the very skills we need! The following list of analytic, student, and professional specialties will introduce the various tasks and responsibilities involved in the directorate. Each brings something unique to the DI’s work.

Analytic Positions
Analytic Methodologists develop and apply new or established approaches to analysis – such as statistical, operations research, polling, econometric, mathematical, or geospatial modeling methodologies – to add rigor and precision to the DI’s overall intelligence analysis and collection.

Collection Analysts apply their expertise on intelligence collection systems, using collection capabilities, processes, and policies to drive the flow of intelligence information and provide colleagues the data needed to understand and analyze issues.

Counterintelligence Threat Analysts collect, study, and interpret a range of reports to identify and prevent foreign intelligence operations that threaten the US Government or Intelligence Community.

Counterterrorism Analysts help warn of terrorist threats by assessing the leadership, motivations, plans, and intentions of foreign terrorist groups and their state and nonstate sponsors.

Crime and Counternarcotics Analysts follow international narcotics trafficking and organized crime groups to detect emerging trends and patterns that will affect US national security.

Economic Analysts use their specialized skills to analyze and interpret economic trends and developments, assess and track foreign financial activities, and develop new econometric and modeling methodologies.

Leadership Analysts collect and analyze information on foreign leaders and organizations to offer US policymakers insights on their foreign counterparts.

Medical Analysts are physicians who analyze and assess global health issues, such as disease outbreaks, and who follow the health of foreign leaders.

Military Analysts help US policymakers stay on top of threats by following foreign military and technical developments that affect another country’s ability to wage war or to threaten regional or international stability.

Political Analysts look at political, social, cultural, and historical information to interpret intelligence about foreign political systems and developments.

Psychological and Psychiatric Analysts tap their expertise in psychology, psychiatry, or sociology to study the health of foreign officials and to assess the psychological and social factors that influence world events.

Science, Technology, and Weapons Analysts use their unique technical and scientific knowledge to identify and analyze weapons proliferation and proliferators; conventional weapons systems; chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons; information warfare; computer systems; and energy security.

Student Positions
The DI has openings for exceptional students through a range of special programs, both at the undergraduate and graduate level. These include the Undergraduate Scholarship, Co-op and Internship Programs, and a Graduate Fellow Program for first- or second-year graduate students.

Through the Pat Roberts Intelligence Scholars Program, highly qualified graduate and undergraduate students in certain specialized fields may compete for a one-year scholarship for the 2005/06 scholastic year.

Professional Positions
Cartographers apply their expertise on specific regional or world accounts to create complex thematic and reference maps and other products for intelligence publications and presentations.

Graphic Designers develop products that integrate graphic, map, photographic, and text components of complex publications, presentations, briefing books, and Web sites.

Multimedia Designers draw on their storyboard, scripting, animation, and editing skills to produce dynamic maps and graphics, 3-D animation, and CD-ROM production.

Video Producers create intelligence videos, both as standalone products and as supplements for analytic briefings, using studio and remote videotaping, close captioning, and DVD technology.

This is so ridiculous! Where have you been??? There was NO CRIME committed even if Rove did mention her name, because she was NOT a covert agent and hadn't been for at least 4 or 5 years. She was more than happy to tell everyone that she worked for the CIA, it was common knowledge.

Rove is not the target of the grand jury investigation and Miller would never go to jail to protect him. Miller was already in trouble for refusing to reveal a source inside the CIA. It is very possible that this is the same source or related to that source.

you are not revealing anyone's name if you are saying so and so's spouse sent them on the mission.

The law concerns revealing the identity of a CIA agent. There is no difference between saying Valerie Plame, Joe Wilson's wife, or pointing her out on the street. The name nuance comes straight from Rove's lawyer.

Just a bunch of control freaks trying to convince everybody else they're still in control.

They can't even keep their pants dry.

On the guest list of the 1999 state dinner hosted by President Clinton for President Jerry Rawlings of Ghana, no occupation was listed for Valerie Wilson, the wife of Joseph C. Wilson IV, Clinton's top White House Africa analyst from 1997 to 1998.

And even IF Rove knew she was covert, mentioning her name and that she worked for theCIA only and not REVEALING that she was covert is nothing more than improper, NOT criminal.

That poor woman sitting in jail when all she wanted to do was protect her source, Rove?

Are you making an assumption about her source?

Easy to tell the difference. If it is an article with a left-wing stance, it is the news section of the NYT. If it is an item with a hard-left-wing stance it is an editorial.

So then, it's just a matter of degrees.

Not so radically left on one side, and more radically left on the other.

So then, their motto should be: "Only left-wing views are fit to print".

40. A shadowy conglomeration is out to kill us. (MIHOP) As I sit in my office today, I hear the whispers of co-workers now utterly convinced our war on terror must continue.

Despite American and British involvement in the Middle East birthing wave after wave of rebel forces, the Bush doctrine is now justified in the minds of millions.

Petty grievances such as the Downing Street Minutes, the President's flagging support and Karl Rove's treasonous outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame are unimportant. A shadowy conglomeration is out to kill us.

By identifying her role in the selection of her husband for the job, Rove doesn't have to and apparently did not reveal that she is an undercover CIA agent.

That part I get, I think <g>. Just some statements here seem to focus on "the name" (i.e., "Rove never said 'Plame.'") as though it would be a substitute for her function. I was wondering if the posts literally meant to say that changing the text of a Rove statement from "Wilson's wife" to "Valerie Plame" constitutes a substantive difference.
