Actually Genesis 9:6 is more concise.
You guys made me do some history-reading. And I thought I was going to get to bed early tonight (I'm on the East coast).
From what I've read, it looks like you are correct. Thank you for educating me. Have a good night!
Thank you for correcting my error.
You all are forgetting the Christian religion forbids suicide for any reason. This alone knocks the idiotic reasoning of this post into a hat.
You're welcome.
The Philistines were combatants against Israel, not innocents. A huge distinction! The asinine Islamites do not know for certain if Samson entered into paradise or eternal damnation, even though he killed his captors, therefore any speculation to choose death over life and murder the innocent would be a direct violation of His commands.
Choose LIFE and LIVE. The ignorant will never understand.
Show me ONE humanitarian aid islamites are solely responsible for that reaches beyond themselves. Just one? You can't. That testifies the truth of their "love" for life, the Sovereign's gift to man.
Islamites are still having the same problem figuring out Christianity.
They simply don't know the Source of Strength - mistakenly thinking it goes "BOOM" once.
Sampson was a wounded (blind) soldier with no options left. He then attempted to inflict the most damage to the enemy hierarchy. He made horrible mistakes, but redeemed himself in his sacrifice. The muslim idiots who blow up their health bodies while attempting to damage the bodies of innocent men, women and children are worthy of nothing but contempt.
It's been reported that Karl Rove leaked the name of Samson to his holders.Therfore the whole incident is George Bush's fault!
I think the answer lies in Samson's relationship to God at the point he destroyed the temple: Samson was too weak to destroy the temple and he relied on God's power to do it. One common theme in the Old Testament is that God usually went to great lengths to show all those looking at an event to clearly see that it was not the power or skill of the person at the center of the story that accomplished a great feat. Usually the central character was weakened or had bottomed out, and there was no other possible conclusion other than their success came solely from the power of God. Examples include the great miracles in Egypt to free the Israelites (Moses did not bring the plaques. Also, Moses was denied entry into the promised land because he said "I'll give you water", when it was God who provided the water and manna.), the birth of Isaac in the old age of Abraham and Sarah, the destruction of the walls of Jericho, and others.
God is god, not us, and He is sovereign. We all exist for the glory of God. Samson gave his life not to kill the Philistines, but to the glory of God in raising up his servant to exact punishment on this pagan people who had exploited the waywardness of God's servant. Samson willingly gave his life in the service of God, as we Christians are called to present our lives as living sacrifices. It was not Samson's strength, but the power of God working through Samson that destroyed that pagan temple. And those who witnessed the event knew it was not Samson, but the God of Samson who worked this miracle.
Just how does the power of God show through the act of a suicide bomber? Any deranged fool could pull off such a stunt. But only God could provide the strength to a single man to do what Samson did.
I don't pretend to know much about Islam, but for the life of me, I have yet to see any good come from it. But I hang my hat on what the Bible says: you will know them by the fruit they bear. I have yet to see any "good fruit" come from Islam.
In any event, what kind of excuse is it for a Muslim to say it's okay because Jews and Christians do it? Are they no better than a filthy Joo?
"So to all of those hypocrites from Jewish and Christian Rabies and Ministers who call the Palestinian Suicide Martyrs as "Homicide Bombers", how are the Palestinians today different from what Samson did before?"
Well, I didn't read anything in the papers about some guy calling on God to give him supernatural strength to push over the Trade Towers. Or superpowers to cause trains to crash or a bus to be torn apart.
Now, if these guys would just sit on the tracks or the middle of the road while praying to Allah to let them destroy the infidel- I'd be okay with that.
Where is this notion contained in the Bible? It is not.
I am very disturbed by the number of people who are basically saying, "It has nothing to do with Christianity. It's 'Old Testament'." People who make these arguments are implying that God was wrong to give Samson the power to destroy those Philistines. You can't excuse it by saying, "Well, that was the Old Testament god", as if there is a different one in the 'New Testament'. This is exactly why I do not use the terms old or new testament. Far too many so-called Christians ignorantly dismiss the Hebrew/Aramaic scriptures.
Samson did not commit a sin by bringing down the temple. He gave his life to destroy the pagan oppressors of God's people. These were not innocents he specifically targetted. The Philistines he killed (with God's help) had attacked him, blinded him, enslaved him and held him captive. He killed his captors, he never went after "innocent" people in the entire time he judged.
I did not say that suicide was mentioned in the bible, it may or may not be, however, I did say the Christian religion forbids it and considers it a sin. This is a true statement. Sorry for taking so long in getting back on this post.
LOL, I see you too use a computer Bible program that defines each word... Kind of annoying though to copy and paste stuff (and delete all the numbers)...
