Mountain Brook High School graduate Natalee Holloway went missing May 30 during a senior trip to Aruba. AP photo
Why are people so caught up in this particular case, yet never give a thought to the hundreds of other girls (or boys) who go missing each year?
I think one of the reasons people are so caught up in this case is Aruba itself. It is very active center of organized crime (drug transit from S.America to Europe and the U.S. and the laundering of that cash through the casinos and other businesses that generate cash from tourists). It is said the LE, and indeed that island, is owned by organized crime. Most tourists to Aruba simply weren't aware of this fact until Nat went missing. Nor were many of us in the U.S. and on FR.
Thus, the Aruban authorities have a huge incentive to not seek the truth. Withing the last month, there has been one rumored case of a columbian necktie death on the island (which is a classic way of saying...anyone who talks dies). (BTW, this was mentioned by an Aruban poster on one of the active forums focusing on this case).
Long story, short...the fear that this island will not talk and LE can't pursue this crime for fear of retribution from the crime bosses (not to mention that they have absolute no forensic experience yet will not ask for help from the Dutch or anyone else), has created a vacuum of fear on the part of many following this case from afar.
If the Aruban LE truly had an incentive to solve this case, I think there wouldn't be nearly the anxiety that there is.
But, after studying the history, past and recent, of Aruba...we all know that the Aruban authorities have been warned, implicitly and even possibly explicitly, "don't trace this case to the underbelly of the island." And on Aruba, the underbelly has its tentacles everywhere.
Anyway, that's my take on why there is such anxiety and worry and sleuthing going on here at FR and elsewhere. Like Beth, we all feel helpless and, if we were on Aruba, we would be part of the search.
I went to Belize over the Christmas holidays--in Central America but it is a Caribbean culture like the islands. I would not have dreamed of going out at night. The lady who ran the small hotel whre I stayed said it was not safe for a white tourist to go out at night, and I am a man in my forties. I went down there for the kayaking. There is so much to do besides hanging out at seedy bars where you may be drugged. I haven't been to Aruba, but surely there is something to do other than hang out until the wee hours of the morning at C&C???
You've overlooked the possibility that these high school grads go to these island for the night life. Beaches all day, parties all night. Reminiscent of spring break.
Rip seems to have a fondness for the word bitch, doesn't he.
Has this been posted from SM,,seems they know us and it has to do with the search issue.

On the Greta Wire, pics out of Aruba part 1, she has a pic of the VDS driveway. There is a white car (SUV) type car there. A visitor perhaps?
I just happened to have a photo of the Aruban drug sniffing dog squad. They haven't actually ever smelled any drugs (or cadavers), but if they ever do...watch out!
BwaHahahah! Don't post anything like that again! I can't stop laughing. (shh...I'm at work, no laughing allowed.)
its really simple and obvious.....THE "SEARCH" WAS 17 SEVENTEEN SEVENTEEN DAYS AFTER THE FACT. IT MEANS NOTHING!
You carefully avoided that which I pointed out and specifically asked you to address in post # 588, but to dodge my question, you shot your face off with extraneius and meaningless nothings.
Now tell me what relevance, if any, do you ascribe to the "search" of the VDS property 17 days after the fact, and how does it mitigate the well-founded suspicions of the VDS's?
here's a link to the question you socarefully avoided and obscured:

OTOH, why wouldn't someone allow a search dog on their property, if not just to put the issue to rest?
A big FR hello to our SM friends!
sw
The search dogs were not allowed on the VDS property because Natalee was there--if Beth's conjecture is correct.
aha! They have found the food that kalpoes momma got fired over! Viking CHEE-WAWA'S.
Now the anti-Natalee and anti-Beth would-be-saviors-of-arubas-income-trolls here can recruit these puppies.
If they wanted to do everything to clear their name and have nothing to hide, a negative cadavor dog search result would only serve them well.
It would appear that they do, in fact have something to hide, doesn't it? That's the only explanation that works for me, anyway.
Doesn't Aruba have the warrant to search a house either?
What do they have?
But NH certainly is no longer in that house and they had time to clean up so what good would the search do?
Ahhh,,,cute
I have a new resolution, I am not going to feed any trolls today. Think I can do it?
Be strong, cajungirl! You can do it!
this clarity you have posed is, I suspect, PRECISELY the point that brought forth the nonsense last night about the so-called "search" that occurred 17 days too late.....it was an attempt to sidestep the salient point of Reynolds statements....IOW to baffle us w/BS.
aruba et al, including many who are Americans MUST try to gloss over what is the reality of aruba....but its getting out of hand now, and they are becoming desperate, so I don;t expect these ringers on this thread to go away anytime soon.
