We don't know if the Aruban LE had the three suspects strip and took pics of their torsos, arms, faces, but Greta didn't think they'd done this, the most basic of cop procedures in cases of possible rape. There was so much possible forensic evidence lost due to bungling and incompetence. And if you look at it from a defense position...if they'd been photgraphed, torsos, arms, faces, backs, and if there had been no evidence of scratches anywhere, this might have been presented as proof of innocence.
I keep trying to picture Joran and the Kalpoe's as being cunn ing enough to hook up with white slavers/drug/prostitution thugs with the idea that they'd kidnap a blonde tourist and hand her over for $$$. I don't think this happened. Someone on FR said it wasn't likely for one reason...that her face is now so famous, that they'd get caught and she'd be found.
Kids who cruelly kill animals (not hunting) are the ones to watch out for later on - definitely a bad sign.
Well FRiends (and apparently others) - I must sign off for now (I know sad). I will be back probably to express opinion sometime. You can continue teeing off! I would prefer reasoned discussion, but oh well, usually that's the case around here. I will pray for as good and just resolution to this as possible. I'm sure y'all will too. This is not an opus, just a temporary layoff to cut grass and deal with life outside the cyber.

Just read on foxnews.com that two Seals arrived yesterday. Also that the lawyers for the brothers were threatening to sue Beth for her comments. (May be old news; I haven't read all the posts.)
It is posted. I have read and reread it, have a number of other sources and followed the footnotes.
It is the context I do believe for everything,,the corrupt authorities, the atmosphere of fear, the necktie killing.
I don't believe criminals got her or killed her but I think that atmosphere on the island affects everyone. Even Joran was supposedly acting like a "bad guy". The Kalpoes were supposedly involved in drugs. The atmosphere at C and C, the use of drugs on the islands. And most of all the fear of having things exposed.
It is a dirty island. With a beautiful landscape.
When you're able, do come back. But, try sticking with facts. Speculation is fine, as long as it doesn't contradict witness statements or known facts.

There are undeniable undercurrents on ALL islands that are bondings of a sort between the locals, no matter their respectives races. Most have a lingo all their own and it's very diffcult to decipher. Even on an English speaking island, like Grand Cayman, the sing-song dialect cannot be deciphered by American tourists or Canadian tourists or tourists from anywhere else other than perhaps Jamacai. It's a home grown thang.
It's taken me 15 years to get an ear for the Cayman dialect and still, I miss a lot of the conversation.
I mention this for two reasons:
1.) Beth stated she could not understand what was being said that night while she sat in the back seat of the car listening to Croes and VDS's.
2.) Locals band together and view tourist probplems differently than we would expect, given they depend on the tourist trade. I'm afraid, poor dea Natalee is viewed as just another American gril, expendable and not worth ruining JVDS's life over.
Not ready to call this a cover-up, but the investigation was blotched from the get go.

Supposedly the "container" that Tim Miller thought looked promising turned out to be a natural granite formation. I don't know where they have in mind for the divers to search now.
Great! If they have investigators, maybe someone will talk...someone who heard or saw something that night but has been afraid of talking to the LE for fear of getting involved.
I mentioned something the other day that happened in a town near me and wanted to give everyone more detail and an update: July 4 fireworks. That night, twin white 21 year-old men, long time trouble-makers, bullies, assaulted all sorts of kids, each other and finally their own mother. Every time, the cops patted them on the head and said, be good. So they took karate and learned to kill with their feet and hands. July 4, they were walking home from the fireworks in the midst of a crowd of people, when they came upon a black kid, whom they'd known since 7th grade.
The black kid (17), had just graduated from high school, valedictorian, going to college. He'd taken his white girl friend (with a cell phone) to the fireworks. Well, suddenly the twins spotted him and decided to beat him to a pulp. They did exactly that, karate chopping, kicking...and the girl friend was screaming, trying to dial 911. Not one onlooker said STOP THIS! They were terrified of these two thugs, but you'd think they could have dialed 911. The victim tried to hide under a car, and they dragged him out by his feet and continued the beating. A few more kicks to the head for good measure. Eventually, they allowed him to get up, and he managed to stagger down the block...and dropped dead. His girl friend finally got through to the cops, and it took them ten minutes to get there.
Great interest in this case locally, as you can imagine, and widespread indignation and frustration that nobody stepped in to stop the fight. The twins (The Boston Globe calls them, The Twins), were caught in the wee hours when they returned home (living with Mom and Dad). First they said they hadn't been at the fireworks, hadn't even seen the victim. (Who, us?) But there were too many witnesses, including the girl friend, so they were arrested. Initial bail set at a quarter mill apiece. Charged with manslaughter, if you please. Then the charge was upgraded to murder when the judge learned they'd lied and got a look at their records. No bail at all. The courtroom stood up and clapped and cheered when the judge announced they'd be charged with murder and 'No Bail'. (The twins were well known and feared in this small town.)
This is the connection with Aruba: why didn't one of the many witnesses step forward to stop the fight, or simply yell that they were calling 911? Instead, people averted their eyes or hurried past. Maybe those with young children could be excused for not getting involved, but there were plenty of other people, including many teenagers.
Perhaps ordinary Arubans who might know something, even something small and insignificant, are like those people who witnessed that beating and did nothing. They're afraid of getting involved. Surely, though, an experienced private investigator could loosen a few tongues. I hope.

Thanks. And I wonder what they think they are going to sue her for? She knows more than we do. And is positive those boys know exactly what happened to Natalee. I believe her. I hope we hear someday soon just what she knows. But she sure as h*ll doesn't the threat of this over her now. That poor woman.
