It is out of concern and sympathy for ya'll as well as an interest in storms generall that I got on NN's ping list, but I would just mention from here in tornado alley that forewarnings to evacuate are not an option. This is also true with respect to any mischief we might experience from the New Madrid Fault. Not criticizing, just saying :) I wish you all the best and will at least worry along with you while this plays out.

True, but there are certain precursors of tornado weather. For instance a southwesterly breeze I think would be in evidence a day or so ahead of the front that brings them. Of course, one obviously can't flee the state every time a front is approaching, but at least there should be signs that one ought to be alert for.

Let's hope the New Madrid is quiet in our lifetime.

I like storms too, but am hoping like hell not to have a repeat of last season here in FL.
