The Schiavo Autopsy Results: Terri Dailies July 6
Accuracy in Media-Media Monitor ^ | July 6, 2005 | Cliff Kincaid

Several bloggers have drawn attention to a strange lead in a Washington Post story about the Terri Schiavo autopsy results. The June 16 Post story by David Brown said that "Terri Schiavo died of the effects of a profound and prolonged lack of oxygen to her brain on a day in 1990, but what caused that event isn't known and may never be, the physician who performed her autopsy said…"

>> Your eyes obviously tell you what you want to believe.

Yesterday you chided me for supposedly having a "closed mind." I know you're no hypocrite, so your mind must be wide open to facts and truth. In that regard, I urge you to read the four documents posted here this morning, in #803, #811 and #817. They are full of facts and truth that perhaps you have missed. One cannot form an accurate opinion of this case without knowing the medical details.

Nobody has suggested she suffered ventricular fibrillation.

From the ME's final report, page 3{or page 30 as you scan}: "She had also received epinephrine, and had suffered a period of ventricular fibrillation..."

I see no point in debating this further. Have a good day.

Thank you for posting that. The trolls will claim you made it up, and insist there is no video. Oh, what the heck, let's post it again, and they can call me a liar. http://www.moveonpac.org/schiavo-QT.html .

Sorry, my open mind does not extend to the Empire Journal. And I have seen the other two reports before. None of them prove anything. Thank you.

My mistake, then. I did read the Autopsy report, twice, but must have misunderstand that reference. Shows I'm no medic!

Ventricular Fibrillation, according to the same source I used before, is the proper med name for one of two general forms of cardiac arrest, and there is no doubt that Terri was in cardiac arrest. But all along the evidence has pointed to anoxia as the cause, not sudden unexplained shock. I believe my question stands, that had she suffered this rare kind of shock, it would have had a global anoxic effect and damaged other organs. (That was a quote from a medical study.) In fact, Terri suffered anoxic injury to her brain but not to her heart or other organs, as the ME also affirmed. This does not seem to fit this very uncommon and very speculative shock theory.

As for debate -- I'm not here to argue, I'm here to get at the truth. If I make a mistake, I correct it cheerfully.

Don't be surprised. They are representative of the new America.

Immoral, spoiled, easily swayed, and even more easily controlled.

Its only going to get worse as our public schools pump out millions of mindless taxpayers.

God help us when my parent's generation dies out. They are the last remaining vestige of the true America...but perhaps our government realizes that. Maybe that's why the sudden push to kill off the elderly. They know that once the baby boomers are gone the rest of the people will be nothing more than cattle to be herded in whatever direction they see fit.

I know that sounds a bit conspiracy theory, but I have been teaching in public schools for 15 years. I know all too well what the liberal curriculum is designed to do just as I know all to well why most graduating seniors have never looked at the constitution in any of their social studies classes. If people don't understand that the constitution is all that stands between them and social slavery then they won't defend the constitution while its picked apart.

I'm afraid that's going to happen quicker than it did in previous generations. (With the possible exception of 1930s Germany.)

WOW! And here I was told that the Democrats would be running ads about us crazy Republicans who wanted to feed Terri....not the liberal, crazy MoveOn Group that almost all Democrats (who wish to keep their seats) try to distance themselves from? We expect this out of groups who put up petitions to get terrorists lawyers and counseling.

The more the MoveOn crowd speaks, the better for us Republicans.

" I went down to get her. I thought, Well, maybe she just tripped or whatever. I rolled her over and she was lifeless. And it almost seems like she had this last breath. So I held her in my arms, and I'm trying to shake her up. "

Too bad that doesn't jive with what the paramedics found. She was laying on her stomach, face to the side and her hands clenched under her chest. (kinda like you might if someone was on top of you) I can't for the life of me understand how they could not see that something bad happened. I can GUARANTEE you that if if was in Terri's situation and my hubby found me, I would NOT still be laying on my face. Oh!! That's right! He put her right back in the same position.

Very well stated.

Michael has never told the same story twice about what happened that fateful night. You'd think he'd remember ever teensy detail. This was his beloved wife crumpled lifeless on the floor -- he told us so! But no. His mind is a Swiss cheese. He couldn't even decide when it happened.

I am open-minded -- I'll even search The Empire Journal for truth!!! -- but I am not open-minded enough to believe Michael telling two or three or four contradictory stories about Terri's suspicious "collapse."

"It is impossible for the same thing at the same time to belong and not belong to the same thing at the same time and in the same respect" -- Aristotle (an early formulation of the principle of non-contradiction, and a reminder to doers of wrong not to tell different stories about the critical moment in your alibi).

Well, that's good. I wish you well then. But please be careful of your sources, many writers and so-called experts have used this case to promote themselves and their agendas, and in turn have not been completely accurate. They promote speculation and rumors. IMHO that is what the Empire Journal does. But that is up to you to decide for yourself. Good luck and have a good day.

Thanks for the cite. Yes, that was an especially interesting passage. The ME was debunking the bulimia / chemical imbalance theory. For instance, he states:

Thus, it is reasonable to conclude that Mrs. Schiavo’s potassium level of 2.0 mmol/L measured after a period of ventricular fibrillation, epinephrine and fluid administration was an unreliable measure of her pre-[cardiac] arrest potassium level. Thus, the main piece of clinical evidence supporting a diagnosis of Bulimia Nervosa is suspect, or at least can be explained by her condition at the time of the blood draw.

Even Michael denied that Terri had bulimia at first, until he doped out that -- however farfetched -- it was his only respectable alibi. Now that's gone too.

>> But please be careful of your sources

Thank you, but the truth can come from anywhere. Anyone can tell a lie, anyone can tell the truth. One cannot judge in advance. Neither can one judge from what one perceives to be the bias of the source -- Nat Hentoff and Ralph Nader, for instance, to take a couple of stalwarts of the Left with whom I am seldom in agreement, but who are calling it right on this issue.

Says Mr. McCabe: "I believe it is unrealistic to expect, considering the past decade of increasingly venomous litigation and family members' disparate and irreconcilable beliefs as to to Terri's wishes, that our office has the ability to resolve or ameliorate this long standing dispute."

Translation: I'm not going to try.

And that's a flawless way not to find anything.

The "report" is useless.
