Several bloggers have drawn attention to a strange lead in a Washington Post story about the Terri Schiavo autopsy results. The June 16 Post story by David Brown said that "Terri Schiavo died of the effects of a profound and prolonged lack of oxygen to her brain on a day in 1990, but what caused that event isn't known and may never be, the physician who performed her autopsy said…"

Ave Maria University establishes Schiavo scholarship

NAPLES, Fla. (AP) -- The fledgling Ave Maria University has established a scholarship in the name of Terri Schiavo for students planning careers in the priesthood, officials announced Friday.

The Terri Schindler-Schiavo Scholarship for pre-theologate students aims "to carry on Terri's name and assist future priests and laypersons in creating and developing a Catholic culture of life," the university said in a statement.

The liberal arts school was founded by Domino's Pizza magnate Thomas Monaghan, a supporter of conservative Catholic causes in Michigan and elsewhere.

Terri Schiavo, who suffered severe brain damage when her heart temporarily stopped in 1990, died March 31 from dehydration after her feeding tube was disconnected despite efforts by Gov. Jeb Bush, her parents, anti-abortion activists and some state and national lawmakers to keep her alive. The Vatican condemned her death as "arbitrarily hastened," and called the removal of her feeding tube a violation of the principles of Christianity and civilization.

Her husband, Michael Schiavo, had fought to have the tube disconnected, saying his wife wouldn't have wanted to remain alive in what many doctors said was a persistent vegetative state.

Set up to become one of the university's annual endowed scholarships, the goal is to have up to $4 million in scholarship money available to students within the next few years, the university said.

"It's great to have an institution willing to take on something like this," said her father, Bob Schindler. "We feel that Terri was chosen by God to combat evil, and what a fine way to pay tribute to her life."

Ave Maria graduated its first class this spring. The school has been conducting its classes in temporary facilities while a $220 million, 750-acre campus is built in Naples. It is expected to open next year.

Bob & Mary Schindler, the parents of Terri Schiavo, the young woman who passed away earlier this year in Florida after her feeding tube was disconnected, will be making a special appearance at the 15th Annual National Catholic Family Conference, July 23-24, 2005 a the Anaheim Convention Center. It will be the Schindler’s first trip to California since their ordeal. They will be speaking with Br. Paul O’Donnell, who provided guidance and support to the Schindler family throughout their time of suffering.

Hmmmmmmm... very interesting. Last night/early this morning, while watching one of the cable news programs, I noticed a scroll across the bottom of my TV. It said the Schiavo autopsy proved that Terri was PVS. That too is nothing but a bunch of BS. An autopsy can NOT prove PVS. I'm so disgusted with the MSM and the way they have consistently spun Terri's case in favor of killing her.

I'll never believe that Terri was PVS. There's too much evidence to the contrary. All those who stated Terri could say a few words and did interact with those allowed in her room, did NOT lie, imo. Michael forbid not only photos/videos of Terri, but also ANY RECORDING DEVICES. Obviously he was afraid of her responses being recorded. Where was the MSM - demanding access to Terri during that horrible time in March? You'd think there were at least some reporters who thought it was very odd that NO photos or audio was allowed in Terri's room. Sadly I doubt the MSM allows it's reports to state what they REALLY thought about what happened at that stinking hospice.

Why no photos, video or audio? It sure wasn't to protect her privacy, since there was a video on CNN that showed her shirt pulled up, exposing her stomach and her feeding tube for all to see. Michael Schiavo was in that early video, so he approved it. She looked so scared with drops of sweat on her forehead. I cried when I saw that video. I truly believe it was done the first time her feeding tube was removed. Does anyone know how to request a copy of video from CNN? Does anyone know if the Schindlers has that particular video?

Dr Hamasfhr (sp) stated Terri had a vision problem early on. However, from what I recall, Greer wouldn't allow her to have any glasses or even an eye exam. Early photos of Terri, when she was a young child, showed her wearing very thick eye glasses. Why wasn't she allowed glasses after her injury?? So much of what the doctor reported early on, has proved to be true. Someone with an agenda tried to dis-credit Dr H. The MSM was sickening silent on Dr Ronald Cranford, who had so much power to have Terri Starved/Dehydrated to death. Only Hannity was there to get the facts out about Dr Cranford.

Sorry that I haven't repsonded sooner to the excellent posts about Hannity. I agree with all who said, we need to let Hannity know how much we appreciated him. You all are the best. Thank God there are many Freepers who understand the truth and are outraged over what happened to Terri. I so appreciate this site and Jim Robinson for his stand on LIFE and conservative issues.

Hi, freepers. The elm tree in the backyard has not fared so well. It is like a Dr. Seuss tree - sideways and missing branches. The big gusts aren't even due here until about four hours from now.

In 2004, all the hurricane gusts were in the front yard. This year, they are in the backyard. The fence surrounding this neighborhood will probably fall down again. We plan on staying up all night because even though we aren't getting a cat 3 or 4, it's still going to be a nail biter.

I want to wish freepers in Alabama and Louisiana well. It's supposed to make land by Mobile.

Thanks for your concern re: Dennis. There is a temporary lull, the katydids are buzzing in the pines. Nothing has blown by in about three hours. The big gusts may arrive after dark. Yes, they martyred her. Dave Simmons (R) Orlando, Fla House Judiciary Committee said to me in person "Terri will be a martyr." They knew a week before she died that nobody was going to save her. I say this often because it's true. Let Dave Simmons deny he said that. Further, another person went and met with Senator Jim King. He came towards this person with his fat finger and said "If we dehydrated you, I'd take a swab and moisten the inside of your mouth like this." This individual became so stunned and appalled that they went to the Capital restroom and barfed. Let Jim King deny that this exchange occurred. There was a witness too.

Tallahassee is in bad shape. Pinellas County is their stepchild. They don't go good.

By the way, if I lose my elm later tonight, I think I'll ask JEB for a new one.

Terri's mom asked THE POLICE OFFICER GUARDING TERRI FROM HER BLOOD RELATIVES if she could give Terri who was without water day after day, her skin was cracking and her tongue was swelling, etc. THE POLICE OFFICER WORKING FOR THE STATE SPONSOR OF THIS MURDER BY JUDGE GREER forbade Mrs. Schindler under the threat of her arrest for caring about her daughter. No ice chips, no water at all for 14 days. Sounds like torture doesn't it? It was torture.
