Thanks for the analysis.

It is probably true that social conservatives are sometimes too purist for their own good.

The fact that their participation in politics is largely driven by issues relating to the moral foundation of our nation naturally makes social conservatives less able to compromise than those who are primarily concerned about, for instance, tax policy.

But if it were true that everything had to be 100% "our way," very few of us would still be Republicans.

Excellent post....I get the feeling some people resent our pull in the party.

I cannot feature being 100% with any candidate although my two Senators Inhofe and Coburn come close to my supporting them 100% of the time because they are conservative and have conservative values.

Actually I don't know anyone I agree with 100% of the time -- I am the Republican activist that understands that some states (New England/NY/upper east coast except maybe NH) will never elect a conservative like my two Senators but personally I will never support a pro-abortion candidate. But then I don't think one could get elected here in Oklahoma to begin with. Liberals are a dying breed in Oklahoma.
