I understand your argument, and I agree that you present a great way of going about life. However, that is not a reason to not begin education and thought now. I don't take this forum any more seriously than I would any other discussion, however I do try to make my posts serious and meaningful--and by meaningful, I don't necessarily mean to the world, for that is a foolish goal that isn't attainable. Rather, I try to express my own thoughts and hear from others.
BTW--objectively speaking, with no hatred towards your posts--your post contains:
1.) a lack of sustained claim--you don't really make any single point nor even formulate a claim of any meaning.
2.)No internal link or warrants--there's absolutely no reason as to why the things you list would inherently make me any more well read or able to ask a question or engage in dialogue.
3.) No impact--no reason why starting now is bad. No evidence beyond your "come back in 20 years" Guess what, I would venture to say im more well-read than you in many of these issues, and have engaged in many more debates as I attempt to educate myself and become involved in a larger and larger community. Go find a warrant, a link, and an impact--then you can come back and argue. Otherwise, have a fun time posting meaingless comments and backscratching with your buddy redwood while failing to get the point that this is all about education and learning.
I applaud your applause. If my questioning your wisdom is construed as a personal attack, so be it. I'm sure you'll recover. Knowledge + experience = wisdom. You've made it embarrassingly obvious that you lack in all parts of the equation.
Basically it all comes down to what is good and what is evil. If you want be on the the side of evil, that is your choice. Obviously the the Cal-State University system's pumping anti-capitalistic mush into the heads young students does a great dis-service to this country. It takes years to cleanse that crap out of your system by experiencing real life. Remember, your teachers do not get out in a real world. Professors live a cloistered life of being surrounded by like-minded people.
Yes, wisdom and experience. that is fabricated within the hands of one view, produced and maintained by the state, and without any questioning is definitely wisdom.
Each attempt to move away from the detached perspectavilist eye of faulty logic, word games, and complete disregard for alternative views is a step away from any form of wisdom I would want.
Oh brother! NOW I find this thread! Love Victor Hanson!
This can be true, though never entirely. If you read my post, I am not communist. I am firmly against Marxist regimes for a variety of reasons that I could discuss if asked.
That said, simply disregarding academic theory as postmodern dribble is foolish. Those who try to shy away never change anything. Also, I am not a product of any university system, I have read on my own and tried to research and uncover events so I can formulate my own opinion. Thus, my reading of Zizek, Lacan, and Marx...and my reading of Deleuze, which led to my re-reading of Marx and Zizek in which i rejected many, though not all, of their views.
Sorry, sonny. Wisdom is something that you WILL gain. It will be forced into your small mind and expand it. Then you'll be worth talking with.
I find it interesting how youve construed your calling people trolls, telling people to go away, and making assertions that they dont deal with basic facts of life into questioning of knowledge.
Hi Gracie! Wish I had known about this in time to go! That is what I get for not checking my pings huh? Hope you have read the rest of this thread as I think you will find it VERY interesting to see who has shown up here. Hope to see ya soon!
Obviously your immense affinity for gaining and deploying wisdom never led to find that you lacked many of the answers and often couldn't even generate a question because you were too busy rejecting every newcomer with more research, more desire, and more experience in particular situations than yourself.
Your mindset does nothing, asks nothing, accomplsishes nothing, and leads us in a circular path to the place we sadly started. Maybe you want to engage in one of the discussions already being started, unless you fear you just don't have the background and argumentation to duel it with me. I think that's the case...(anticipates another brilliant reply of "hah u commie, im old and wise now go away).
This, young man is really sad. You make me afraid for the future if you are an example of what Clovis schools (from which I am an alumni) are turning out these days.
You are obviously full of yourself, but that is not the only thing you are full of.
You have absolutely no idea of who the guy is, what life he's lived, what kind of ideals he holds, or what experiences he's had. If you don't agree, great...post that. No need to pump out personal attacks that are misguided and based on fantasy. BTW--you're safe, Clovis still often produces brainless, discplined clones for your enjoyment. It looks like this guy strayed from that path....
Thank you for the link. I did not claim Cuba was a paradise, nor do I advocate we all pack our bags and move there, I simply believe that universal healthcare system is worth looking into and know that according to stats taken from the CIA World Factbook that Cuba has better stats in regards to health than most of Latin America as well has higher literacy rates
I posted no personal attacks.
I believe you did. You told me that I am sad, full of myself, full of something else (presumably shit) from what I can infer, and that I scare you
What is a personal attack in your book?
Dancusa--though we obviously don't agree on certain issues, I find your comments to hold many relevant insights and truths. Thanks for the discussion and not resorting to calling me some dirty liberal or something to that nature.
Though I respect your high holding of Dr. Hansen, I think you should possibly consider taking multiple views into account on certain controversial foreign issues in which the truth is often lost through muddled liberal and conservative lenses. Many fine authors have specialized in refraining from digging themselves into philosophical and rhetorical understandings of history and events and yet still doing something that goes beyond the common view, yet still through a black and white lens. An example, conflicts of genocide and identity politics in many nations outside the visible moral spectrum of many Western liberals or conservatives....
Either way, thanks for the discussion so far.
You attitude scares me Brandon, and I think it is sad that you feel our government is committing acts of terror by defending this country. As to the full of something else, I did not specify what as you can see by reading the post. Perhaps I meant charm and wit. You don't know me either you see. Perhaps you should just move on. I certainly will. Best wishes for your life and all that.
