Some of the article is true and some of it a bit conspiracy theory. I've heard that Basayev could be trained by GRU in early 1990's when Russia supported separatists in Abkhazia against the Shevarnadze led fmr. Soviet Republic of Georgia. The logic was like this--Shevarnadze destroyed Soviet union--let's destroy his Georgia (Gruzia). The result--Russian government helped to grow a monster that turned against Russia in the face of Basayev and Chechen armed separatists-terrorists. As for Taliban, it's highly unlikely that Russia had any hand creating it. It was likely primarily Pakistan intelligence idea. As nasty as Yeltsin/Putin regime was and still is, I'm against unsubstantiated accusations even when the accused party warrants no respect whatsoever.
That's stupid, and you know it. Yeltsin actively dismembered the Soviet Union to get his own kingdom.
