The greater problem we have in MO in I-70 is not the cars speeding, it's the semi's. The speed limit is 70, but trucks casually go 85, box-in cars and will not let them pass or get out of the way. Almost without exception, any major accident on I-70 involves a semi. The drivers intimidate kids and there have been many tragedies involving teens trying to get out of the way. I have never seen a MO HP pull over a truck for speeding. The weight stations are closed at night so the truckers pay the lowest gas tax in the country, speed to their hearts content, do road damage and never pay up.

I wish we would either limit the speed a semi could do or have a special lane for them. If so, the roads in the midwest would be alot safer.

On most highways here the semitruck limit is 5mph lower than the passenger vehicle limit. Some semi-tractor drivers can be overly aggressive and dangerous in their driving and I have had some scary encounters so I do sympathise with you.
