a stingray won't kill you.

And man of wars aren't exactly common, unless you are in Australia.

Stay out of Texas gulf. True a Sting ray will not kill you, but if you are 40 miles south of a hospital, you may wish you were dead.

Man of wars not commmon? Give me a quarter apiece for all I can send you and I will retire next week.

Not picking a fight. I think we are are on the same side here.

Anyone that would like to read a good book on Australia should read "In a Sunburned Country" by Bill Bryson

More poisonous creatures than any place on earth, tough place wonderful people.

Never been to Australia, have been stung by Portugese Man Of War in Galveston, Texas. I was young and stepped on one of the tentacles of one which had been washed up on the beach. Adolph's Meat tenderizer was the treatment used to take the sting out.

"And man of wars aren't exactly common, unless you are in Australia.

The ones we have seen off the coast of south FL, we called Portugese man-o-war...they were blue. Most often seen washed up in the surf during winter months. If there were enough, the beaches would post a warning. Another cold weather surf creature is the Blue Fish...they can take fingers off. They still bite even with their heads cut off. Very popular sport/game fish in FL, but they do travel in large schools and I for one would NEVER go in the surf if the pelicans were diving. Blue fish are caught with spoon lures (read: attracted to "shiney")--sharp teeth.
