Like most everything else, it is pure rumor and speculation but I did hear small amount of chatter re ransom being paid today. Was face to face communication, not on internet nor in media. A friend of a friend heard. I live in Alabama with relatives in Mountain Brook. But I cannot verify in any way and have heard other rumors that turned out not to be true from same sources. Gossip, in other words. What I heard was the natural father of Natalie had made arrangements for payment via insurance policy he holds on all family members or had filed a claim on that policy.
I find this hard to believe since he is out in the garbage dump digging for her body. But in the absence of facts, people will talk, hoping something is being done and some how she is still alive.
So perhaps the search team will be able to at least get the dad out of the dump as it seems they have finally decided the certified dogs are not going to infest their island with imaginary diseases. In fact, one might think they would be more concerned about all that garbage rotting in the heat with all sorts of discarded appliances and vehicles leaking who knows what instead of four immaculate canines doing professional work. I don't remember seeing any photos of the dumps in the travel brochures, either. Rather poor sanitation practices for a place so concerned about contamination via search dogs.
As I understand it there are three dumps and a pond between the home of the VDS and the two brothers' home that may be a starting point. Have to wonder why these have not been searched already but can only surmise it is because they did not want to find anything and only looked where they thought nothing would be found. But if her body was thrown in there and things have since been added on top of it, as in the case of the Hackering woman in Utah, they might not have been able to retrieve it for better hiding. At least not without attracting major attention or some sort of moving equipment depending on what has been added since the body. Just a thought.
Also, can anyone provide a link to the article which appeared around the time Joren was taken into custody the second time that contained a quote by the Chief of Police or other high ranking LE to the effect "How can I do this to my best friend's son?" I read it at the time but did not realize how meanigful it was. Wish I had kept the article and if anyone knows where I can find it please send me a link as I would like to have that as a reminder of how this all came to be such a royal mess.
