I haven't heard of premeditated murder charges and can't find anything about it in the news. Is something going on as to charges?

Note that it's 'suspicion of pre-meditated murder'. I'm getting the idea that it may be a mistake to try to read too much into the initial charges--thinking that the more ominous-sounding the charge, then the better chance of convincing the judge to hold the suspect beyond the initial 6 hour interrogation.
