Once you get used to the FNC gongs, they aren't all that bothersome. I run Fox all day to keep up with various stories, but am usually focused on other things.

The gong reminds me to lift my head out of whatever I am working to see if anything new is happening, sometimes it matters, and sometimes it doesn't.

What I find helpful is to adjust the sound on my set low enough so that only the gong alerts me to look at the TV screen to see which story it is covering, then if it is one that is of interest, I turn up the volume to follow along.

Thank you, however imho they are still unnecessary unless they are used for breaking news.

We all are intitled to our own opinions.
