I wonder if that is where his story changed from what he had told LE and caught the ears of LE.

Yes, I saw
that statement last night too. My point has been: I did not see or hear that he actually
met Natalee. He probably saw all the kids there, weren't there a bunch of them? But, true, that might have been what caught the ears of the LE if he had not mentioned that to them before, and so they are questioning precisely what the nature of his knowledge of her was - sight of her from across the room or an actual, up close "meeting."
However, I would think they had already established that he had been at the Casino with Joran, so I would also assume they would believe he could have "seen" her, as well as others, there. The actual "meeting" of Natalee, IIRC, has not been actually stated. If you find it, or hear it, I would love to know. That would be significant, I have stated previously.
