I wonder if that rumor of seeing Daddy VDS out at McD's at 3am may be true.

I don't know brigette. I don't think that I saw the original rumor, just saw it being discussed.

I just got back home and there are 3 threads going on this. :)

So it's all coming together. The Editor in Chief hinted at something going down today, and I imagine Beth Holloway Twitty had a tip Pappa Paulus was going to be arrested..so maybe that's why she ducked out of the meeting last night.

Yes...I wanted to add that, but the post was already so long. I would have immediately taken my child...even before the next morning just do do a CYA and set the record straight before any suspicion of any disappearance or wrongdoing. Note: Paulis is not a judge, yet, just a civil servant.

There could have been a lot of things that figured into his decision. Including the hope that she would appear. I suspect, however, he was pretty angry with Joran if it played out in the manner I suggest. And/or, it is also possible, as you know, we all know men who would say to their son "Hey, well you should have been home, and we won't tell your Mom. But Hehehe, did you have a good time, son? Wink wink? " Those men are everywhere, hoping for their son's "right of passage."

And, as I said, and as many of us might have observed in our travels, teens on these trips (Spring break, etc.) often spend the night on the beach because of drinking, or just because they want to have done so. In the morning I have often seen them come staggering back, looking pretty rough, to the motels. Even Natalee's roommates were not alarmed when she was not in her room and figured she flopped in another room or something. Kids just don't think sometimes.

Dad's should, but, you know, not always. I bet if Mrs. VDS had been home, as she seems more the "in charge, do it right" type, Joran would have been taken right down to the police - and then given punishment for breaking the rules.

If he is not at all responsible look what his sneaking out has caused his family, and probably his plans for college, etc.

Of course, if he is there is no reason he should not pay the highest price of their judicial system. I just hope that the case can be solved "without a reasonable doubt," for all concerned.

Remember that Beth Holloway was with Greta, and the two of them went in and spoke to both wife and Paulus for about 90 min. That was meant to bring the two upset families together, not meant to be an outright interview with the parents.

So Greta probably said something like, "I want to give you both opportunity to present YOUR point of view, just as I gave the Holloways that chance in my interviews with them." And they went for it.

I was wondering if something he said during that first talkfest might have been told to the police and they cross-checked it with what he had told them, and something did not match up, even BEFORE the latest interview with the two.

Thanks for the ping, TexKat. I don't have CNN on, so missed that very interesting interview. Maybe this will unravel at long last. MSNBC just had on a former FBI investigator who said arresting Paulus raises the ante, that they think he might possess some knowledge of events and N's whereabouts. It's also a great way to apply pressure on Joran. Funny, how circumspect the FBI seems to be on tv, even the ex-FBI men, that Mona Lisa smile they all seem to have -- as if they know what's up and won't tell for fear of jeopardizing future convictions.

I do pray for Natalee.

If what I suspect happened actually did, then her life went from exhilirating happiness to utter horror to over...in a very brief time span.

You're right about Greta's cleverly maneuvering the vdS's into that second interview. As for Papa v.d.S, when you lie, it's just about impossible to keep the lie going. You tend to embroider, embellish, and then can't keep anything straight. No wonder he was sweating and wringing his hands. And that terrible moment caught on tape when the camera zoomed in on the sweat trickling down his forehead. He didn't dare take out a handkerchief and wipe his face!

There is a good chance that Greta may have helped in getting him arrested, as in behind the scenes. Feeding questions to PVDS like she was interviewing him, but was really pounding him to see if he would slip up.

When Beth came out of the VDS house the other day, she looked stunned and numb.

We have not seen the full interview that Greta did with the VDS's yesterday. Is it possible that Greta recorded what went on behind closed doors when Beth was with her?

I wonder if Greta will stay in Aruba over the weekend or not. I hope she does and I hope she is there next week also.

Did you catch the latest CNN exclusive interview with Momma VDSloot? She was visiting with Joran and he told her that they might be going to arrest his Father. He told her that the police didn't "respect" his Dad. Very arrogant remark, IMO.

Joran feels that the police are "dissing" his dad.

He has been listening to too much rap.

UNCONFIRMED

Here are the "family member's" posts from Riehl:

Quote:
I'm in Mountain Brook and from the people who have recently returned from Aruba is that Van der Sloot's dad was seen at a McDonald's at 3 a.m. the night Natalee disappeared.

I don't think this has been reported in the mainstream media so hopefully this will help those of of you who are following this closely. This is my first post here and I'm posting something I think all of you might find significant.

Natalee goes missing at about 1 to 1:30 a.m. and the Van der Sloot's dad is seen at a McDonalds at 3a.m. I assume the dad has a job and would have to be at work the next day. There to me it is very suspicious.......

Quote:
Arubagirl, thanks for the info. I'm just repeating what I've heard in the hopes that the people here will find it helpful. Since McDonald's closes at 1 am, myabe he was at another fast food joint at 3 a.m. and maybe he was at McDonald's even though it was closed. I don't know. But this info was given to me by a family member and FWIW, the fact that father was out that late is why he is not being allowed to see his son in prison. His behavior that night is considered to be very suspicious.

Quote:
Arubagirl, it sounds like you doubt me. While the "where" of my post may be wrong, I am very confident that the dad was out at 3 a.m. and that the authorities are extremely suspicious.

Hint: the person who told me this has the last name of Twitty.

Quote:
Moey, Jan, the point I'm trying to get across is this: he was seen somewhere - I heard McDonalds - at 3 a.m. , the authorities are so suspicious that they won't allow him to see Joran in jail.

That's the horror in all this. Natalee gone without a trace, and we're left to wonder if she suffered, is she dead, or worse, if it's worse, I can't make up my mind -- to wonder if she was drugged and sold into prostitution by some slave ring. There's no way to think up a plausible and happy end with Natalee restored to her family, safe and sound. The loss is profound. Beyond the love and agony her family feels, we lost a young woman who wanted to become a doctor and heal others. This tragedy didn't have to happen, and maybe that's the ultimate lesson.

It looks like Texas search group is mostly over in Aruba now. The dogs might not be there yet, they were having problems getting them over there since they have to ride in the cabin.

Try and catch it.

Fox is talking about Paul VDS's "amnesia"? Could this be because he can't recall if he woke his son up to go to school?

John Gibson on FOX is suggesting they may be considering that Natalee was taken to the VDS's house. IOW's a rope a dope involving the Casino, since they can't find Joran on tape at the hour he said he was there.

Hmm, just now on Fox, a family friend by the name of Murphy, also searching for N, said there was misdirection going on by Papa Van der Sloot that night. They were told to leave and go to McD's, and suddenly Joran's back home. How? Was he at home all the time? Evidently Beth made an offhand remark that N might have been in the house that night, and if so the father had to know. The Equus search team has arrived and says if they searched the house with their cadaver dogs, and N was buried there, they'd find her. But they don't have the regular search dogs along, so wouldn't be able to tell if she'd been there, alive.

Satish Kalpoe to mom: 'We didn't do anything' The mother of the Kalpoes said Thursday that one son had admitted he and his brother made up a cover story to protect Joran Van Der Sloot.

That's the trouble with liars. It's hard to determine when they're telling the truth. WHY would the Kalpoe's lie to the police and risk being a target themselves? Wonder if the sloots offered them money? Otherwise, It doesn't make much sense.
