Well My family is now screwed. Our property is going to be seized by the cityhall next door to us now.

“Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you. We’re saying that for America to get back on track, we’re probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.
These words, which reflect true socialism, were spoken by Hillary Rodham Clinton. If we don't band together and work hard for whoever is running against her in 2008, she'll be the President of the United States - and socialism will be our official policy.

No more so now than you otherwise would have been absent this decision. An expansion of city hall could be easily construed as for the public good for these purposes......

Well, that kind of a "taking" would be more legitimate under Emminent Domain as it was formerly understood.

What this new ruling says now, is the city could take your property to build a Dunkin Donuts shop there as a perk for the Police Department. Hell, even worse than that--just for the sales tax revenue.

Maybe there is a silver lining to this cloud: Everyone could appeal their property tax assessments now and claim their property is worthless because the state could take it at any time for any reason. Think that would fly?

That wouldn't have been effected by this ruling. It's always been the case that the government could use emminent domain for public projects -- highways, public buildings and sometimes stadiums and other public works projects. Your property would be in jeopardy due to this ruling if you lived next to a "development district".

Thats exactly how it will work out. Every pissant little city council will take whatever it wants for a "Diversity Center" or some such sh*t, and we'll be left out in the cold.
