Wow this is a great ruling. I have seen a couple of houses I would not mind owning. Now thanks to this if I claim I plan on fixing them up and upping the taxable value I can just kick the owners out and move right in. What? Only the Government can steal private property, what a bummer. Guess I'll just stay where I am.

This is the worst day in the history of this country since September 11th.

I didn't really think there was a real estate bubble until now. This should certainly suck the value out of "private" property rights. UNBELIEVABLE!! Our constitution is officially dead.

Wasn't it Carol King who sang 'tear down the trees, put up a parking lot.'
Now the High Court say 'tear down private homes and put up a shopping mall.' All in the name of cities and states greed for more taxes. Guess we just don't pay enough in property taxes.
This is a low blow to the ordinary citizen.

This is reality. Maybe reality stinks. It is no wonder they won't even consider property rights in outer space.

>>>This stinks!!<<<

It more than stinks. It gives governments the license to steal anything they in order to further "socialism" of our society.

Hopefully there will be some brave Americans that use the 2nd Amendment to enforce their Constitutional rights to private property ownership against government entities that try to make hay on this disaster of a Supreme Court decision.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels

We call in government seizures, tax liens, Public "law" 99-570 (1986); Executive order 11490, sections 1205, 2002 which gives private land to the Department of Urban Development; the imprisonment of "terrorists" and those who speak out or write against the "government" (1997 Crime/Terrorist Bill); or the IRS confiscation of property without due process.

I believe this is probably one of the top five worst decisions ever made by the SCOTUS, possibly even number two or number one. Property rights are integral to what makes this nation a free society. Now your neighbors can team up against you with the city council and steal your property.

We've been inching towards this for many years. Railroads, then highways, then large renovation projects for cities and now this.

I believe that the government of the United States has been sent so many messages, by our acceptence of unconstitutionality, criminality and now the blatant taking of our property, that it thinks it can do anything.

You know what, I think they're right.

I've got my pet grieve, and you all know what it is. Why shouldn't they shaft us all the more? It's a freebee and they know it!

Don't worry. In 10-15 years when a Chinese corp. needs your subdivision land for a new plant using Mexican labor-they'll be more than fair with their offer.
