This sickens my stomach. It's like our leaders don't have any standards anymore. Why do we let any Communist officials from any Communist country visit the US in any official capacity. Our enemies get to enhance their image while we tarnish our own. Doesn't anyone remember what Communism even means???

If it's to discuss recent events, I'm OK with it. But somehow I don't think these things are on the agenda.

PERSECUTION OF MONTAGNARD CHRISTIANS IN VIETNAM

Christmas crackdown in Vietnam (Communists persecute Christians, again)

3 executions in Vietnam alleged as part of government crackdown (on Christians)

VIETNAM CRACKING DOWN ON CHRISTIAN TRIBES IN MOUNTAINS

VIETNAM UNREST THREATENS TO RAISE OBJECTIONS (persecution of Christians)

You are very assumptive here. You have no idea what this meeting is about.

I remember hearing something about a summit between Reagan and Gorbachev--in America. I was in grade school then, so I was quite frightened by the news. I really don't recall what happened between them, but the Soviet Union fell a few years later, and we didn't surrender.

Oh, yeah, and Communism is an economic system in which all people are either less equal (in a death camp), equal (the majority, severely undernourished, repressed, and hopeless), more equal (the dictator's cronies), or most equal (the dictator himself). Strictly speaking, communism is only an economic system wherein all persons pretend to work, and pretend to be paid equally, no matter how well or poorly they may work. In practice, however, communism would collapse quickly as starving masses demanded some form of upward mobility if a tyrannical godless dictatorship did not accompany it.

Here's some evidence for you as to what kind of people are behind the latest swing by the "elite" among us.

AmCham pins high hopes on Vietnam-US blossoming business
http://www.vov.org.vn/2005_06_15/english/kinhte1.htm
Adam Sitkoff, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Hanoi, says AmCham is confident that during his upcoming visit to the US, PM Phan Van Khai will establish a new and productive relationship with the US government, the American people, and the US business and financial communities, and seek to re-introduce Vietnam as a stable, peaceful and vibrant member of the global economy.

The truth of the matter is that most of our investors and corporate officers are not as conservative as people in their positions were over 30 years ago.

Our Republican Administration has begun its second term, and we conservatives are being dumped again. Our business leaders don't feel threatened by socialism. Many of them are the children of the hippies of almost 40 years ago, who were themselves the children of corporate bosses and lawyers. ...ever wonder why so many family breaking social programs are still in place in our USA? Corporates pay lobbyists and contribute to the multitude of feminist organizations to see to it that those programs stay intact.

It's like our leaders don't have any standards anymore.

Our leaders have no problem taking people trying to flee from Communism and returning them, knowing they'll be imprisoned and/or tortured, so the answer would be "no".

Doesn't anyone remember what Communism even means???

Some of us do, but not many. Your talking about a nation that is more interested in would-be brides on the run, or so-called "reality tv" where people make complete asses out of themselves, than what is going on in the rest of the world.

Communism means slave labor for the suits that run DC.
