(1010 WINS) NEW YORK Many families of those killed in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center oppose plans for a memorial at the site not related to the events of September 11th.
Those families plan to launch a ``Take Back the Memorial'' campaign this week to get public officials to focus on the victims of the attacks.
They are against proposed plans for an International Freedom Center at Ground Zero which would have exhibits on slavery, human rights and American Indians.
I have written several people regarding this problem. President Bush, my 2 congressman, and Senators. We have a responsibility to voice opinions regarding the 911 Memorial, as the monument is the only opportunity to honor those killed in 911 on Holy Ground. I urge you all to do the same.
I couldn't agree with you more.
local NYC news covering this just now (Marcia Cramer on WCBS-NY). Pataki spoke, he seems to be on board with stopping this.
ping. Pataki has spoken out about this.
Have I missed Mrs. Clinton's outrage over this?
outrage? she is hoping to cut the ribbon to open it.
Good. Pataki has scored alot of points with me this week. First bashing HIllary about her Rove comment and now this. Also I wish his son all the luck - he just joined the marines. Maybe that helped Pataki get the push he needed to speak up!
I'm so glad you pinged me to this! I hadn't known Pataki had spoken up about the Memorial and am glad the families are speaking out too. Thanks!
