Will it be Romney in 2008?
WorldNetDaily ^ | 6/16/2005 | Rusher

the one that stands out a mile is Mitt Romney. He made his initial reputation by taking over the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City when they were staggering under a bribery scandal and a $400 million debt and turning the event into an ethical and financial triumph. As governor of Massachusetts, he inherited a $3 billion deficit and balanced the state's budget without a tax hike. He is battling the state Supreme Court's ruling in favor of gay marriage by supporting both state and federal constitutional amendments barring them.

"As a Mormon, I hope not. It will bring every vicious Mormon-hater in the world out of the woodwork."

I am not a Mormon. But if Romney had truly established conservative credentials fighting for social causes in this state, even if he lost, I would be 100% behind him. Unfortunately, he is not a fighter.

By the way would you ever vote for Prez a Gov who liberalized abortion laws, enacted gun control and raised taxes.

How about Ronald Reagan?

Calvin Coolidge was 80 years ago! By the way, we have had a president from Massachusetts much more recently than that. But the political landscape has changed since then.

Yup, we lie on our backs and snooze after drinking too much scotch.

But if you are saying I tell falsehoods, well, you don't have a leg to stand on Miss GOP.

See 39. It's from the horses mouth, as far as what he's ACCOMPLISHED to enact his socially liberal agenda, well he doesn't accomplish much in general, and Massachusetts already has enacted most or all of it in the past. Romney has REPEATEDLY and UNEQUIVOCABLY said he favors legal abortion (now he claims to be kind of pro-life -- but as far as anyone knows he still supports legal abortion on demand), gun control (the AWB at least and possibly more I don't know), and gay rights not including marriage.

....Choosing him would be the same as choosing the Democrat to win......

Hope you've got your kneepads on as Hillary waddles by!

Yeah Rommney ain't perfect, nor is McCain, nor Guilani: But, we've got to put up a pubbie centrist, not a staunch conservative, otherwise Marky Mark and Bill Clinton will be jumping on the bed in the Lincoln bedroom once again.

Romney's campaigning in Michigan.

He's going to have a tougher time here than people think. Most people here don't remember his dad, and the republican base has been much more conservative since 1982 when we told the RINOs like Milliken to take a hike.

That gun ban will hurt him BAD here.

He would bring moderate voters (blue states) to the table, as well as the upper midwest with Michigan.

It's not a gaurantee he'll win Michigan either.

It's been 30+ years since a Romney won a major office here. (George as governor) While Scott(who I believe stayed in Michigan) won a unibersity regents/trustee seat at the bottome of the ticket, Ronna Romney(who lost to Spence Abraham in a 94 primary) got crushed by Carl Levin here back in 96. She only did slightly better than Rocky who was a sacrificial lamb.

Mitt will be strong here until his record comes out, then his support is going to drop when the NRA fights him.

I've never seen centrists win anything. I've seen conservatives win though.

Anybody from Massachussetts is going to have to prove themselves long before they get to the Texas primary if they want a chance at winning.

I don't think it's possible.

aS,

... oh, I would vote for Guilliani or McCain - though I am not pro-choice or pro civil unions. But I will not vote for Romney - even if he runs against the Hildabeast. At times, our country goes through fire and spends time in the wilderness and it has a good effect despite the tears. But no Romney... I'll be fishing that day.
