I know people who have done it & no, they didn't live around the corner from each other. Other than an occasional mishap of having a uniform at the wrong parent's house, the kids seem to have somehow managed.
Hard to tell which would be worse, the constant disruption of something like that or having a parent mostly drop out of a kid's life.
