Close Gitmo?

The retreat is on. Even Republican Sens. Chuck Hagel (Nebraska) and Mel Martinez (Florida) are scurrying along with the panicked pack calling on the U.S. to close its detention facility at Guantanamo Bay.

Democratic Sen. Joseph Biden (Delaware) has been a leader of what should be loosely called the "Release Suspected Terrorists Now!" caucus. Biden says everyone should be let go from Gitmo — except, in a crucial caveat, "Those we have reason to keep, keep." Ah, there's the rub.

I just love this "close Gitmo" bit. And the alternative is what? Camp Cupcake?

Under Islamic law, non-Muslims are deemed unfit to touch the Quran. That much is generally known. What is not usually considered is the reason: According to the Islamic law, we are unclean.

The term is "najis." On the multilingual Web site of the Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani, the leading Iraqi Shi'ite cleric, there is a catalogue of Islamic laws. This includes a list of "najis things." There are 10, beginning with an assortment of excretions and body fluids--obvious stuff that really shouldn't need special mention. On the "najis" list with urine, feces, etc., are the pig, the dog and the "kafir." That means the Christian, the Jew, the unbeliever in Islam--and, chances are, the Gitmo guard.

In effect, then, with its official policy of clean cloves and detainee towels, the United States military is promoting, enabling and accepting the Islamic concept of najis--the unclean infidel--a barbarous notion that has helped fuel the bloodlust of jihad and the non-Muslim subjugation of dhimmitude. Our soldiers are many things: self-sacrificing, bold, loyal and true. They are not unclean.

Is this political correctness run amok? Not exactly. It's something else again, a new threat from within that needs vigilant redress. P.C. is about victimology, the elevation of perceived victim groups to the canonical pantheon. The Gitmo rules are more blatantly about surrender, a voluntary self-extinguishment, a spreading condition of denial of what is right and worth standing for. Not what you expect from the United States Southern Command.

Declare the Gitmo inmates prisoners of war. They will then be released when the war on terrorism is over.

Why are we even talking about this crap! What a diversion for the leftist kooks!

Get on with the American people's business, i.e. energy plan, UN appointment, judicial appointments etc.

Making sure that the terrorist have a lavish cell and great food to eat certainly does not fall under what the American people believe is important to defeating these imbreds!

It would be constructive to ask the detainees if they would prefer the meals, clean cloths, treatment of respect, etc, etc,.....or, be detained in the general population of a prison that the US Judicial system has to offer.....as a Terrorist.

" Even Republican Sens. Chuck Hagel (Nebraska )... scurrying along with the panicked pack calling on the U.S. to close its detention facility at Guantanamo Bay.

Even ??
When it comes to Hagel , there should always be an eye roll and the words-" As usual."
Last night, Brian Williams was talking about the Democrats criticizing the President on North Korea and he said this in all seriousness :
" Surprisingly, even some Republicans agreed with the Democrats.. "
And Ta Da-who should appear on the screen, but, none other than Hagel, Chaffee and Lugar.
Maybe Williams should get out more, if this came as a surprise.

That's the problem. They were not a uniformed army...just Usama's trained killers.

I guess some Senators don't care how they look from a historic standpoint...Guess that's true 'cause history doesn't remember most of 'em.

Good to know that we are extending every courtesy possible to those who regard us in the same way as excrement.

And those who would have us release these....'people'...are fitting that charactarization perfectly.
