LARGO, Fla. -- An autopsy on Terri Schiavo backed her husband's contention that she was in a persistent vegetative state, finding that she had massive and irreversible brain damage and was blind, the medical examiner's office said Wednesday. It also found no evidence that she was strangled or otherwise abused.
But what caused her collapse 15 years remained a mystery. The autopsy and post-mortem investigation found no proof that she had an eating disorder, as was suspected at the time, Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner Jon Thogmartin said.
Autopsy results on the 41-year-old brain-damaged woman were made public Wednesday, more than two months after Schiavo's death March 31 ended an internationally watched right-to-die battle between her husband and parents that engulfed the courts, Congress and the White House and divided the country.
Thogmartin also said she did not appear to have suffered a heart attack and there was no evidence that she was given harmful drugs or other substances prior to her death.
She died from dehydration, Thogmartin said.
He said she would not have been able to eat or drink if she had been given food by mouth as her parents' requested.
"Removal of her feeding tube would have resulted in her death whether she was fed or hydrated by mouth or not," Thogmartin told reporters.
He also said she was blind, because the "vision centers of her brain were dead."

So this is the thanks Michael Schiavo gets for ordering an autopsy to determine once and for all if his wife was in a PVS?
Well, I knew it but hoped I was wrong.

I cannot count the posts back in March where they all said he was afraid of autopsy results. Well, folks, here we are......gotta keep the CONSPIRACIES GOING!!! B/c the autopsy didn't show MURDER!!

Where is there any evidence of strangulation, on Terri when she entered the hospital?

Strangulation is achieved by compressing soft tissue and doesn't have to leave any bone indications. The fall once unconscious would leave some other non-neck injury that could show on a bone scan.
In any case -- she could have been strnagled
The hyoid bone is usually, not always, broken during strangulation. There are no broken bones to support a strangulation theory so now you're saying that she could have been strangled anyway. Sure. But where are the reports of massive bruising or ligature marks about her neck when she was admitted to hospital? And how is it that the Schindlers didn't notice the marks or, if they did, have failed to mention it? For that matter, why didn't the hospital discover it & file a police report?
Her severely unconscious state. That is evidence. And documented.

What an autopsy! As shuttered to teh world as her "care" was.
Sorry I was so non-informed as to neither recollect nor notice your ladyfulness.
And so do the sighted. One of my first bosses was blind. It was his great pride, however, to throw his hat on the hatrack when he arrived in the office. Though blind, he could make out dim shapes in the light and shadow, and the hatrack was in a well-lit corner.
