No details yet.
Its a DC3.
DC-10's in Pax service in the US are about as rare as DC-3's.
"they are pretty sturdy planes"
Understatement of the century. VERY over-engineered plane; safety factors built in for bouncing into dirt runways of yore.
With mildly updated engines/avionics, ideal for island-hopping, drug-running (you think I jest), and carting banannas.
That's right.... The media did not plan this crash very well. It conflicts with the coverage of the MJ verdict.
Yeah, DC-3 is more like it. Thanks.
Fire engines have been racing north up federal highway for 30 minutes, but traffic appears normal otherwise. Am only two miles away.
That and jets (3) versus radials (2)...pretty hard to mix 'em up.
Looks like the pilot was able to avoid hitting houses etc. Thanks for posting the picture.
I believe its Vintage Airlines, they run DC-3 charters. There is an operator in Alaska in the summer, and the Otis Spunkmeyer cookie company has one in Oakland that they charter out for sightseeing flights.
yeah, but the local stations are reporting the FAA said it was a DC-10, which struck me as strange just looking at the scene. plane is small.
Glad you're safe. Any first hand report that you can share?
And they switch to the Jacko car live footage.

Very frustrating! At least give us a split screen!
MSNBC TV: Should the U.S. set a withdrawal date for the military?
The plane crash is now a link..
It was cool, all done up like 1945, old magazines, flight attendant with old uniform, champagne. Got to go to the cockpit, it was 100% intact, with a hand held GPS on the stick. A great flight over the glaciers of Alaska, what a plane.
Whenever there is a plane crash, there is always bad info at first, usually by the networks!
Thanks...
