Well if it just took off it most likely be flying with plenty of fuel for trip to destination.

When I lived in Long Beach, CA, there was one company that used DC-3's - pretty sure they were DC-3's anyway - to fly supplies to Catalina Island. You'd see them (and definitely hear them) head out in the a.m. and back in in the afternoon.

There is an airline, Vintage Air if I recall that flies DC3's out of there, damn shame, I got to fly in a refurbished one in Anchorage a few years back, it was pretty special.

Try flying into San Juan, last time I was there I counted no less than 12 on the ramp.

It's only 90 miles to the islands at the shortest hop.

Big difference between a 10 and a 3, about 200 seat difference, I'll go check out some of the aviation boards.

DC-10? Isn't that a fairly large plane? I thought Executive Airport was for smaller planes.

pilot and 2 passengers got out of the plane.

If there's only damage to the plane and the pilot and passengers got out safely and there's no property damage (homes), IMO, there's not likely to be much reportage.

(cynic alert)No smoldering bodies, no multi-million dollar wreckage, no sizable loss of life= no extensive news coverage.

Oh my gosh! Can you go down there and give us some live reports? ;-) The news media is obsessed with Jacko right now and aren't covering the crash!

Well it's nice to see that the media has it's priorities straight. I'm trying to find out about this plane crash & all I can find is wall-to-wall Micheal Jackson coverage!

Geeze, you got scooped by someone a lot farther away. I know, I know, you were outside looking for survivors, instead of posting to FR like you should have been...
